I honestly, would seriously recommend staying anywhere but here, if you have plans then cancel them. This is beyond the worst experience I have ever had for this amount of money a night (1k euro+) it is NOT worth the money and is / would be a huge mistake to stay here.
Absolutely insane and I hope I can fit it all into a review.
First off, we get to the hotel and the initial presentation seemed nice but don’t be fooled. We had fun sitting at the pool, it was nice there and the servers there were great the entire time honestly, but the rest was very poor.
After we left the main pool we went to our private hot tub in the room which we were very excited for. We get there, and the bugs are all in it and it clearly hadn’t been cared for at all in a while. That’s ok, whatever. Cleaned the bugs out ourselves with a cup after calling them multiple times and waiting nearly an hour near sunset.
But that wasn’t even the biggest issue, after about 25 minutes my fiancés hair that had barely touched the water at all in that period started to turn GREEN, which is absolutely impossible to happen that quickly, if the water was proper and taken care of, and in addition to that our skin was burning a bit. It did not feel good at all. We spoke to the manager, and he moved us rooms and I truly believe he did his best to accommodate the situation but regardless it’s unacceptable and there’s more to come.
The hotel then promised to find a hairdresser for the next day, and they did. The hairdresser had to cut off a couple inches of my fiancés hair and tried to fix the color (of which still isn’t perfect). It was an absolute nightmare, really upset my fiancé and we missed our spa time because of this, and their incompetency… that of which they didn’t even reschedule us (lol??) but we were ultimately glad the hair got “fixed”. Once we got back to the hotel we gave them the receipt, and they said they’d call us and update us on the compensation for such. They proceeded to seriously have the audacity to call and argue with my fiancé saying I got a haircut too, which I did and paid SEPARATELY with separate receipts, as we just gave them the receipt listing the necessary corrections for my fiancé’s hair. We had to repeat this back to them multiple times and they were rude about it, a situation of which they are seriously lucky I didn’t pursue further action for with the health hazards at hand at this hotel. Anyways, they at least paid for the hairdresser but it wasn’t a smooth process.
I was just trying to make the best of it at this point, and then the staff continued to bust inside our room multiple times a day, when we had do not disturb on, one of the times we were nude. We had absolutely zero privacy the entire trip. At one point house keeping came while we were on the patio, came all the way out there, we told them to leave and they wouldn’t and stayed for a couple minutes moderately arguing trying to clean the room, while we were still there!Despicable, from any level of hotel.
Then, to top it off our room keys randomly got deactivated for zero reason and we got locked out of our room, and the front desk number did not work when calling whatsoever and the reception is super far away, luckily we had somebody pass with a golf cart in time to help us.
In addition, yes there is more believe it or not. There’s “late night menu” service which is very inadequate and only cold foods which aren’t too good. Tried to order on one of the nights and anything I wanted was “not available” while the workers were slow and rude in return. You’d expect much different from somewhere like this…
Seriously as I said before, go literally anywhere but here if you value your health and vacation time (we lost an entire day nearly) If you have a booking here or are thinking about staying here, cancel or find somewhere else or you WILL regret it. The manager is nice as mentioned but needs to get his staff and facility under control. Wish the best of luck to him on that, because he has a lot on his plate...
Read moreConsidering the price and snootiness of the place, it was such a HUGE let down - do not waste your money here! The restaurant situation is a total disaster as they can't accommodate all the guests in it so it forces you to order room service and pay more for it and then if it rains they have no seating available because restaurant seating is all out doors so it forces you to order room service (again). You are gouged for every nickle and every dime should you ask for anything extra (like more water for the htoel room because tap water is not drinkable) There are no other convenient food options unless you walk into own about 15 mins away which isn't possible when it's raining or 100 degrees outside so they have no backup plan for this. The rooms have no drawer space and drinking water is hard to obtain unless you spend a fortune asking for it. The staff definitely tries hard so nothing against them but they have been trained poorly and struggle to be proactive or think out of the box. The 2 restaurants on site have extremely limited menus options. Unfortunately I had just come to this hotel after staying at the Mykonos Grand which is over the top for service, food and facilities where they bend over backwards (and charge alot) but without having the horribly snooty attitude of this hotel. Breakfast was also a HUGE let down - this place is NOT focused on service. It's a very basic breakfast buffet with mostly cold food and cold tea/coffee that is served and I haven't gone to a breakfast in Greece yet that doesn't offer champaign/mimosa but that wasn't offered here either. But again the servings were poor - when asking for an orange juice at breakfast the glasses come one-third full (not half but one third) . It comes across as embarrasingly cheap so maybe they should invest in much smaller glasses to save money and Unfortunately we were only on the island for 2 nights so it really ruined the whole Santorini experience for me! There are definitely better luxury places to stay on the island. But I would suggest the staff (who is clearly trying hard to do the right thing by guests) be better cross trained and be taught some common sense. If it’s not their area of service they can’t handle the request and they pass you off to someone else. Example I’m in the lobby and I’m looking for some hand sanitizer/ hand lotion. I ask the towel girl who is clearly sitting there doing nothing. She says I only have towels so u might want to ask the spa and continues sitting there doing absolutely nothing at all. At the grand Mykonos it didn’t matter who u asked for what they would just run around until you got what you needed. I think the staff are not able to go beyond their limited area of expertise (towels in this case) but that was a consistent theme. Mini bar lady couldn’t handle water request and told us to call someone else. Front desk couldn’t handle reservations and told us to call someone else. It was honestly so ridiculous. Suggest they send their staff to the grand Mykonos hotel for training!!!!
Oh one last rant - was only here 2.5 days so decided to go to the pool for a half day but it turned out to be a day where guests by the pool had to listen to the water pressure wash of the patio (from 11am to 2pm???). It was so noisy that it totally ruined the ambiance of the pool time. Wouldn’t it make sense to do this over night or when guests are...
Read moreWe recently stayed at Santo Mine Oia Suites and were thoroughly impressed by our experience. From the moment we arrived, it became clear that we had made the right choice for our vacation. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the Sunset and Sea View Jacuzzi room, which provided an incredible view of the famous Santorini sunset. The private jacuzzi was the perfect way to wind down after a day of exploring, especially on the slightly colder evenings. It added a touch of luxury and comfort, and we couldn’t imagine our stay without it.||Santo Mine Oia Suites is a relatively new resort, and it certainly lives up to its expectations in terms of the rooms and amenities. What you see in the pictures is exactly what you get. The design is fresh and modern, with an attention to detail that made the entire suite feel special. The spaciousness of the room was just right. We received a complementary beach bag, daily water cartons and sometimes our towels were replaced twice a day. The resort’s newness, however, does come with a small downside. Because it's still relatively undiscovered, there were moments when we felt a little lost, particularly upon arrival. We were dropped off directly at Santo Mine and had no idea where the reception was. It turns out, the reception is shared with Santo Pure, a sister property just five minutes away on foot. However, exursion transfers tended to pick/drop off at Santo Pure. A heads-up about this from the resort would have been appreciated.||Another thing to note is that Santo Mine's location means there is quite a bit of walking involved, which may not suit everyone. The scenic walks to the town center and Ammoudi Bay are about 10 minutes each, but they are uphill and downhill, so be prepared for some exertion. Alternatively, you can take a cab, but it will cost you around 30 euros for a relatively short distance. If you’re ready to explore on foot, though, the walks are beautiful and worth the effort, offering stunning views along the way.||On the dining side, breakfast at Santo Mine was pleasant but repetitive. We were there for several days and noticed that the menu didn’t change much, expect for one or two items. The standard offerings like scrambled eggs and bacon were consistently available, but the lack of an omelette station was surprising for a resort of this caliber. A bit more variety would go a long way in elevating the overall breakfast experience.||There were a couple of other small drawbacks as well. The pool, while gorgeous, was not heated, which made it less inviting on cooler days. While this wasn’t a major issue as we had the jacuzzi, having the option for a heated pool would have been a nice touch. Additionally, we requested a late checkout of just 30 minutes but were declined due to the resort being busy, which was a little disappointing.||That said, the staff were friendly, warm, and went out of their way to make our stay memorable. We were welcomed with complimentary wine and fruit platter in our room to celebrate our anniversary, along with thoughtful messages that added a personal touch. Overall, Santo Mine Oia Suites truly delivered, and we would happily stay here again. The views, the rooms, and the overall experience made it a standout choice for our...
