This restaurant looks and feels authentic. The owners are italian and they also serve and cook the food. However, if you are not italian, don't expect much attention from them. We waited about 10 minutes for them to bring us the menu (the whole place has 8 tables and they were not all occupied), they just spent 10 minutes at one table (with italian customers of course) talking about the food. When they brought the menu to us they threw it on the table and said "food is on the blackboard" while turning and leaving, they spent literally 2 seconds with us, versus 10 minutes with the other table. They got our order and delivered the food so late we wondered if they had forgotten, because even people that arrived after us got their food at least 5 minutes before us. After they brought the food, they completely forgot about us, not one glance in our direction to see if we wanted something else or wanted to pay the check, hand signals were totally useless. Food was authentic but a bit tasteless. To top everything off, I found a cooked fly in my pasta. I went to the kitchen with the plate and said I won't pay for that, fortunately they understood. We paid for the rest and left. All in all, a frustrating and bad experience. I do not recommend the place if you have any respect...

Read moreThis was the best meal I've had in my entire life. We stumbled across Mare Magno one night when strolling around Venice and it is the best thing that ever happened to us. The hospitality of Maurizio was evident as soon as you walk through the door and his service throughout the night was amazing. His partner Catarina is the chef of the operation and this woman deserves a damn Michelin star. She changes the dishes she serves every day based on what ingredients they can get from the market and our group had four completely different pasta dishes that were all superb. I thought the dish I had was the best thing I've ever tasted in my life until I tried the other dishes at the table. Everything she cooks is utterly perfect. The combination of flavors she produces is unlike anything I've ever tasted and you can tell she puts love into her cooking. My mouth is watering just writing this review. If you are in Venice you MUST go to this restaurant. I'm already planning my next trip back to Venice just so I can...
