In one word- 'perfect'.
This was my first experience staying in a hostel and I now fear that the bar has been set far too high so that I will subsequently forever be disappointed with future hostels I stay in.
The facilities in Homey Seafront were very modern and new, and very clean. Before my stay, I was expecting the hostel to be filthy from all the backpackers staying there, but the opposite was in fact true. Everything was very nice and clean. The common area, albeit somewhat small, is very comfortable and cosy, and the view overlooking the sea is just awesome.
The best part of my experience staying here was likely the hospitality provided by the staff. They always made sure we were comfortable and happy, and obviously dedicate themselves very much to their job. An example of their hospitality is when I got out of bed at 10:40am, despite the hours for the free breakfast ending at 10:30am and everything used to make that breakfast having been mostly packed away, the staff member, seeing that I wanted breakfast, pulled everything back out and made breakfast specifically for me.
Great service, great environment, great facilities. I loved my stay here. Why go anywhere else in KK when you have this awesome hostel for a simple 40 ringgit a night? The answer is that you wouldn't.

The hosts will do anything in their power to help you and make you feel at home and there are so many extras here it’s crazy generous!! Ear plugs, sleeping masks, Netflix, coffee/tea/water all day, free breakfast, lounge area with brochures, snacks.
The hostel itself is super bright and airy, very relaxing space for sure! But since it is so open that does mean noise travels. The only thing separating the rooms from each other and from the rest of the hostel are curtains (earplugs fixed this issue for me though - which they provide!)
Only way to make it better would be to have more signs in the front of the building and around the stairs to find the hostel as it was SO hard to find and none of the locals could help because they don’t know it (but this seems common in this area as the next place I stayed had the same problem).
It would also be nice if they had airport shuttle info out, laundry service, and tours that they could sell you - it would be the most perfect...
Read moreSuper helpful staff, who helped us plan our trip to Maragang hill and arranged a car hire for us at a very good price. The hostel also has really good prices for the Borneo river cruises.
Hostel is very clean, great free breakfast anytime policy and a good amount of social spaces.
The only and biggest downside of the hostel is the non-existent sound proofing of certain private rooms (the side of the building the reception is on) as the walls this side are hollow. I would avoid booking the sea view deluxe double room as there is a gap in the wall connecting the window with the room behind where the wall acts as a partition wall and you can hear EVERYTHING in the other room, you can also reach your hand around / look into the other room!
The standard double room on the other side opposite the reception of the building we had for 1 night room was much better and we couldn’t hear anything...
