I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the service my friend and I received during our recent visit to ZING Sunset Bar. While this has always been a go-to spot for me, our experience this evening has left us both incredibly disappointed.
To elaborate, after placing an order for one Baileys after meal, we were subjected to an excessive 30-minute wait, during which the drinks were never served. Deciding we could not wait any longer, we proceeded to the cashier to settle our bill, only to find that the Baileys had been included in the total. The cashier, to her credit, handled the situation appropriately by verifying with the staff that the drinks had not been served and ensuring that the order was canceled. She even informed the bar staff to cease any preparation, as we were leaving and no longer required the drinks.
However, moments later, a staff member named Kayla (we are unsure of her exact role) approached the counter with the Baileys in hand and insisted that we could not cancel it because it had already been made. She herself acknowledged the absurdity of the 30-minute wait, yet persisted in repeating that the cancellation was impossible due to “the system.” Her attitude was unprofessional, making a big deal out of something that was clearly a mistake on the bar’s part. After waiting far too long for a simple drink, I refused to pay for it, which I believe was entirely justified but in the end, we were forced to pay for a drink we no longer wanted.
On top of this frustrating experience, I also witnessed other tables/customers receiving poor treatment from the staff, further highlighting the disorganised, lack of attentiveness and the overall service was appalling.
This incident has left me feeling incredibly disappointed, a place I once frequented with enthusiasm. I sincerely hope that you will address these serious service failings and make the necessary improvements to prevent this from happening to other customers in the future as this incident has really left a...
Read moreI really like this place! I’d brought and will continue to bring friends to Zing Sunset Bar who come to KK from other places. After all, we have world top 3 sunset view in KK Tanjung Aru. 🤭
Serving western food, from snacks, mains to desserts, gelato and a long list of beverages menu, includes some interesting cocktails.
Sourdough pizzas are must have for sharing, go for the signature truffle mushrooms.🍕 Garden salad is one of my fav. 🥗 They have great risottos too! Pastas are nice especially pesto. Oh and also the Flaming lamb, apparently the flavour is as good as the presentation🔥
I might want to suggest if you can add some plant based options in your menu.☺️🙏 However, the staffs and kitchen were helpful to customise my request for meatless and dairy free for my previous visits.
Overall a lively place! Very crowded during the sunset golden hour. Depending on the crowd and the set lists, especially when there is live band performances, the vibe might gets fun or sometimes chill and relax.
Suitable for families with kids and seniors, friends gathering, casual business meet up, celebrations and basically any occasion. You can come here ten times and get a different sky painted by the sunset on a different day. You can have a walk by the beach, have a seat on the deck with a drink and selfies with the incredible view. If outdoor is not your thing, they have indoor air conditioned dining area too.
Make a reservation especially for a big group, or walk-in...

The Zing Bar is part of the Golf Club and is a pretty decent spot to relax, noting my points below. It’s a nice waterfront restaurant, offering a great atmosphere. We ate there as well, and the food was fine with minimal waiting time. Unfortunately, Guinness is only served in halves (?) at 15 Ringgit per half, and wine is only available by the bottle (?), around 120 Ringgit for Chardonnay.
For the best sunset view, Table T1 is the prime spot—worth grabbing if you can!
Whilst I acknowledge this isn’t my part of the world and I totally appreciate cultural differences, the Chinese and Korean guests whom made up 95% of the covers when I was there where constantly taking photos of their food and staging endless pictures of themselves, it got a bit too distracting for me but just keep it in mind or ignore it! I swear two Chinese lasses spent 40 minutes—yes, 40 minutes—on a full-on photo shoot of themselves and their food even before touching their drinks and food! Life takes all sorts though, this isnt a Zing issue its a cultural and demographic difference thats all.
Overall, a solid option if you're at the Golf Club or near by, but be mindful of the drink options—and the regular impromptu photography...
