Mandala Heritage Inn — Hotel in Kathmandu Metropolitan City

Luxurious 2 Night Treat || Location perfect for my needs. Hotel is located in quiet Mandala street , which is a side street in Thamel linking two of the main roads that form Thamel. Its a no traffic walkthrough area with shops and cafes. Its a recreation of what was once here when I first started visiting decades ago. New bricks have been used along with Newari timber carvings and stone designs to recreate the Newari architecture and the old world feeling and design of Kathmandu of that time.|The 'Mandala Heritage Hotel' newly built during covid, is situated in the middle of Mandala street, so is very quiet with no traffic to contend with. |Your taxi is however allowed to enter to drop or collect you and your luggage.|There is a perfect balance of modern and traditional blended together, plenty of lightness to balance the darkness of timber included in the design of the building. Nothing feels heavy or oppressive, which can often be the case seen in many of the hotels built in this style in Nepal. The room where I was on 4th floor was very quiet and with window closed and aircon on it was easy to forget the craziness of Thamel area was still going on around me a few floors below.|Oddly I prefer the familiar noises....but it was nice to have the choice, especially the aircon.|The place was spotlessly clean and staff lovely and attentive without overdoing it.|There is a beautiful garden restaurant on top and the spring flowers were lovingly attended to, and thriving in the hot sun. We moved here after a noisy stay at another hotel and we were very glad we changed our hotel. The stay in this hotel is so much more pleasant. The staff are always courteous and helpful. The hotel has a very posh front desk which immediately sets it apart from other hotels. The lift is modern. The rooms are clean, neat and quiet, a calming sanctuary which was a rare find in Thamel. Breakfasts were good and inexpensive. Many eateries and shopping area nearby. At night, I can enjoy a restful sleep which I needed very much after the mountain trekking. Wondering in the streets in Thamel, searching for a place to have a breakfast and work, me and my girlfriend accidentally ended up on the roof top restaurant of Mandala Heritage Inn. It was a cold morning in December so we were looking for something sunny and there we found the perfect combination of sun and shade, good WIFI, power plugs and good food. We were instantly greeted by Keshav and we were charmed by his hospitality. We had such a nice time, that we visited couple of more times making sure that Keshav was on duty.
