Food was average and drink service was slow, had an alpaca burger, when it was brought out the mince patty was still totally raw in the middle, I returned the meal to have the patty cooked properly, it came back around 2 minutes later from the kitchen looking exactly the same, I'm sure they just put it on the counter and brought it out again without doing anything. I again explained to the waiter that the patty mince was still raw in the middle and asked for the meat to be cooked properly, it was again returned to the kitchen before another waiter brought it back out and threw it down on our table a little while later without saying a word, the patty looked better this time so I took a bite, low and behold instead of just taking 5 minutes to cook the patty properly they had just seared the cut end and it was still partially raw in the middle.
A meat patty is not a steak where it can be served rare in the centre, mince must always be cooked correctly as it has been exposed to the air unlike the centre of a steak, this is basic cooking...the lack of ability to cook something this simple and how the whole thing was handled by the staff left a sour taste in my mouth, I wouldn't recommend going here with so many other similarly priced fantastic options...
Read moreDecent atmosphere and competitive prices. They have pre-set menu specials that are a good deal, but I opted for the chiriuchu dish, and it was literally a mountain of food!
This dish is honestly enough for 2 people, and came with a bed of toasted corn kernels, topped with cassava cake, Andean sausage/chorizo (which was quite delicious), and hefty wedges of Andean cheese (so much cheese!) This layer was topped with hen (chicken) and cuy (guinea pig), followed by a topping of seaweed, roe (trout eggs) and a slice of hot pepper.
It was honestly too much food for me to eat, but was mostly good. The only bad part was that the chicken was a bit dry/overcooked, so I endded up not eating much of that.
Also tried a pisco sour (decent) and an algarrobina cocktail for dessert (this is a pisco drink made with Peruvian carob extract, which tastes a bit like chocolatey malt syrup.)
UPDATE: Went back for a second night, because I hadn't tried lomo saltado during my entire time in Peru, and I saw they had it on their special menu (starter, main, dessert, and drink for 40 soles... good deal!) and also because I wanted to try the aguaymanto sour. The service definitely seemed slower this time, but the food and drinks were good and the...
Read moreWARNING!!! This is THE worst tourist trap I’ve ever had the displeasure of falling into... not that I had much choice since apparently while me and my partner were visiting Cusco they had a very strict lockdown every Sunday due to COVID... so by the time we were looking to get dinner every restaurant around Plaza de Armas where we were staying, already closed and this place was the only one open, the service was dreary and slow, the menu basic and uninspired, the atmosphere of a morgue and the food just terrible, I had a “typical” corn and potato soup which is one of my favorite Peruvian dishes and this one had no discernible flavor and somehow was both bland and a little sweet which is an achievement though not a good one, my fiancé had spaghetti marinara( a dish I didn’t ever think could be ruined) it was tasteless as well and also gave her a stomach ache, we couldn’t flee this place fast enough once we lost our appetite mid meal, DO NOT EAT HERE if you have half a decent palate or enjoy food in general, this place will demolish your joy of eating. 1 star is one...
