Please don't be fooled by the pictures! This resort is located on an alley 3 walking minutes from the beach. Yes, 3 mins doesn't sound so bad, but just remember that it rains in Boracay and walking down a poorly lit alley with mud puddles may not be your cup of tea. Looking at the pictures one would think this resort is steps away from the beach, don't be fooled. The pool is a non-moving body of water. No pump to circulate the water, ear infection awaits you. I checked into my room and the pillow had no case. This allowed me to see the black mold on the pillow. The staff immediately covered it and brought another one that had brown/yellow markings. The interior is perfect for low budget travelers. I spent 58 USD and when I looked at the booking site later that day the price was 33 USD! The owner's wife Janece said they use "dynamic pricing system" which causes the influx of price. I call this utterly bs. She would not refund the difference. I ended up walking out and rented at the nearby 4 star hotel for 30 USD more and was in complete luxury. ||The owner's 1 min walk to the beach consisted of walking on uneven 2x4 boards over mud puddles that splashed up on you when stepping on them. ||To enjoy Boracay one must stay on the beach or steps away. Not 3 minutes walking down dark alleys. Total...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible. Yes it’s Asia but seriously this hotel should have closed whilst doing its own “refurbishment ... after the fire ... and after the flood” the picture is nothing like the reality. Construction yes we knew but not in the actual hotel. The staff did tell us when we arrived saying it’s ok as they only work from 9-5. THATS EXACTLY WHEN WE WOULD WANT TO USE THE POOL!! You can’t use the pool. At all. Without the builders working around you. And the walk to the beach is dangerous. Since the construction on the next door building they have had to redirect guests along an unlit, blind bend passageway, where the security guard can’t see you and where you are walking through god knows what in the dark. Seriously I will be claiming money back for this as it’s misrepresentation. We stayed 2 nights then found another beautiful hotel (sea wind - see other review) where we felt safe - even though we had paid for a full week. Oh and breafast appears from some hovelly hut at the far side of pool. I really hope they don’t prepare it in there. Friendly staff and it’s not their fault. Stay...
Read morequaint and secure. the Villa Sunset has iron gates and 24 hour security at its one entrance/exit and is surrounded by a brick wall. The staff were friendly and helpful. Beach towels are provided and can be taken from the property to be used at the beach or island hopping. The onsite pool is small but so is the hotel, so is in proportion. Breakfast is served on the rooms terrace/balcony area and is continental. The property is located down a small lane with a pedestrian lane leading to the beach front and shops of station 2 the lighting in the lane has been provided by the resort. (they keep having their light bulbs stolen but when advised they will replace.) There is in room cooking facilities , two burner electric stove top, stove top kettle and fridge, pans plates etc. supplied. It is perfectly located for the station 2 night life and access to boat tours and water sports. While the price is reasonable, its not a huge jump in affordability for a fancier hotel, I would stay here again if I could find a cheaper promotional price. overall we had a pleasant stay here in a ground floor...
