My partner and I got engaged on holiday and decided to go to Arribale to eat after being recommended to by the receptionist at our hostel.
The food was fantastic. Unfortunately they were out of the fresh catch of the day (through no fault of their own, there is only a finite amount and we came for dinner quite late in the evening) so I had the vegetarian dish of the day and my fiancee had the pork. The vegetarian meal was fantastic - grilled pepper stuffed with rice and veg cooked in some delicious spices. It was all cooked fresh on the grill at the front of the restaurant. The pork was tender and moist, cooked in herbs and spices that made it melt in your mouth. It came with some new potatoes cooked in garlic and butter. We also had a side of garlic mushrooms which were delicious, and some grilled prawns. The prawns were huge and meaty, cooked in garlic and some other spice mix.
The waiter we had was very attentive and friendly and made some good food recommendations. A very special thanks goes out to the English gentleman who I think owns the place (sorry, I've forgotten his name) for being so friendly. When he found out we had just got engaged he decided to take the wine and sangria off of our bill as a gift for us. He was just so nice and welcoming towards us.
Overall the food and drink was very reasonably priced. You really do get what you pay for and at Arribale you get a fantastic quality meal and wonderful atmosphere for a very good price
If we ever return to Lagos we will definitely be coming here for...
Read moreWe had the most horrible experience in this restaurant. We were very happy to have dinner here cause we have been before. But this time the situation surpassed my patience and good food does not make it to the horrible time the waiter made us pass.
We ordered our starters and by mistake, the waiter brought some bread to our table, we assumed it was courtesy as in many restaurants we’ve visited in the past. We each ate a piece and the waiter came back extremely annoyed and said: “you can’t eat what you haven’t ordered” obviously we were embarrassed and clarified that we were going to pay for it. Notwithstanding the continued making really weird comments on it “you have free bread now, you can wait for your starters.” As if we had done something wrong.
Finally, he mentioned it again, “now you have free bread to accompany your entries”, we again said that it was a miss understanding and we’ll gladly pay for it, and then I couldn’t help myself to ask if this was a joke? Why would we assume there was a mistake made, and then they kicked us out and asked us never to come back.” I can’t believe we had this bitter taste. I have eaten a few times before there but this experience made me sick to my stomach. The way they kicked us out was something I've never...
Read moreThis place is a hidden gem among a city of typical touristy beach town spots. It’s location along the water is ideal for a beautiful meal al fresco, but If you choose to sit inside, the cozy ambience is equally as lovely. We ordered a variety of tapas (the garlic bread and squid salad were among them and were too delicious to last the 3 of us more than a few minutes. The owner is a simple local man with a great sense of humor and a true knack for handling the charcoal grill, located by the entrance of the building on which he grills all of the fish and meat to perfection. He promised us the fish of the day would be the “best fish we’ve ever had in our lives,” so we ordered 2 to split and they really did deliver. The prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality, so even if you are a young traveler trying not the break the bank, this place is the perfect spot. The amazing food was only part of the overall experience at Arribalé - the servers and owner regularly came by to joke with us, tell us funny stories and make sure that we were enjoying our meals to the fullest. Overall, an all-around excellent restaurant experience and a...
