Tempero Gaucho — Restaurant in Lisbon

During our visit to Lisbon, we discovered an exceptional steak and seafood restaurant that truly exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for a memorable dining experience.

We chose to sit outdoors, where the charming setting added to the delightful ambiance. The staff was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable, guiding us through the menu with insightful recommendations. Their passion for the food was evident, and their suggestions did not disappoint.

We indulged in the Maminha Steak, Lagareiro Octopus, and Shrimp Risotto. Each dish was a masterpiece, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The Maminha Steak, cooked to a perfect medium as requested, was tender and succulent. The Lagareiro Octopus was a delightful blend of textures and tastes, while the Shrimp Risotto was creamy and rich, with just the right amount of seasoning.

The impeccable service, combined with the extraordinary food, made for an unforgettable dining experience. Every aspect of our meal was flawless, and we left with no complaints. It‘s a place for tourist. I don’t recommend it. The food wasn’t perfect but ok and a bit overpriced.

Also we had an unpleasant situation. A waiter asked us, where we would like to sit inside or outside. We sited outside and he gave us menus. Then I ordered by other waiter and went to the toilet.

The first waiter stopped me and said that I can’t just go to the toilet, I should oder a drink. He didn’t even asked me if I ordered something or not! He completely forgot that 5 minutes ago he has given me a menu! He thought I was just passing by. It’s wasn’t crowded in the restaurant. Only 1-2 tables were occupied. Despite his apology, I felt very uncomfortable.

At the end of the evening this waiter brought us the menus with the word “desert”. He didn’t asked us before if we would like to have deserts! This behavior is really tactless. Moreover during paying this waiter recommended us to pay 10% tips. For this kind of service!...

The sangria was perfect, lovely at first and even better as the night went on as the fruit infused it with even more flavour. The thin cuts of Argentine beef, asked for and delivered rare, lost none of the lovely flame grilled flavour, and I really don’t know how the chef managed this. The rice and black beans were the best I ever had, and I would go back for that alone, any day. My wife raved equally over the garlic prawns, and the portions were as full as the flavour for, literally, everything. The service was also friendly, attentive and helpful. Seriously, do not get bullied into a seat from competing restaurants that flag tourists in off the street at bulk with bait and switch tactics, this restaurant stands on its merits and quality.
