This hotel is a disgrace! Room 405 has a very serious water problem with rain water pouring into the bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom the night of May 4, 2017 was flooded with rain water 1/2 inch deep. The ceiling/walls were soaked with water around the perimeter of the bathroom. In addition the area around the doorway to the little balcony (walls/ceiling) was soaked and a large amount of water collected in the waste basket and water dripping from the ceiling splashed to within 3 inches of the bed.||||i could not sleep through all the noise from the dripping water and tried to seek help from the reservation desk, but no one answered my calls for help. The maid offered to mop up the water, but I refused to remain in this room because it is obvious from the looks of the walls/ceilings and bedroom flooring this is a continuous water problem. There were signs of mold growth around the ceiling in the bedroom. Obviously the health risk to anyone with allergies/asthma is a critical problem. I have those health issues. I took pictures of this room that visualize these water problems.||||I moved out of this room, but was not provided with another room until 1 pm, when check-in begins. This situation caused a loss of many hours of sleep and tourist activity. The owner refused to allow a credit of the rent for one night. He stated he owed me nothing and stated it was not his fault. ||||Beware this accommodation because they collect payment in cash only and thereby one is unable to hold back on payment by a credit card company in situations such as this.||||No hotel wholesaler should allow this hotel on their website due to the legal ramifications due to possible health...
Read moreWe visited Beira Minho recently, and the location is amazing. I read a few of the reviews here and saw that a lot of people complained about the rooms, but our room was alright (considering the price). It looked like it had been recently refurbished, and even though it was small, it was clean. The bathroom door wouldn't close properly though. ||||I would have given this place maybe 2 or 3 if it wasn't for the terrible service.||In our twin room the beds are these cheap and noisy fold out beds, and one of them tilted over when my friend sat down on it. During the first night the two people sleeping in that room kept waking up every time they turnt around, as the beds made so much noise. After the first night we removed the beds, and slept on the mattrasses. Apparetly this really made one of the workers there angry: |||| One day when the cleaners came and knocked we told them that we weren't quite ready, but that we would leave within the next 10 minutes (which we did). When we got back the room wasn't cleaned, so we went to reception to ask if it was possible for them just to take the rubbish, as there was food leftovers etc in our room. The answer was 'No. You didn't want your room cleaned this morning when we offered. And you can't just be acting like you own the place, moving things around and doing whatever you want'. WELL... Maybe you should have beds that don't break when you try to sleep in them. ||||This lady never said hello to us when we passed reception either. We were always friendly and respectful, the only thing we did 'wrong' was to move the beds. Some people should just not work in the...
Read moreFantastic location - just outside the Rossio metro station and bus terminal, close to many tourist attractions, the famous Santa Justa lift is only a few minutes walk away.||||The room was comfortable and clean, the bathroom was spacious. The bed was made, the room was cleaned/tidied and fresh towels were provided everyday. Lots of English speaking channels on TV. Breakfast was nice and generous - breads, cakes, jam and butter, small coffee, juice, milk, yogurt, apples ... and a whole pack of cheese! They bring the breakfast up in your room at your chosen time.||||Like other reviewers are saying, there were patches of mould on the wall by the window and the walls were thin so you could hear the TV from other room. However, we weren't bothered about it at all as room was still clean and comfortable, we were tired from walking and sightseeing and slept okay, and most of all, really enjoyed the great location at such a reasonable price.||||The staff were all friendly and very helpful. We will happily stay here again.||||Apparently this is a 'pay at check in' type of property. Just be mindful of that fact if you're going to book via travel agencies. We booked with Expedia who took our card details and lead us to believe that we've made a full payment. However, we're told by the hotel at the time of check in that we had to pay then by cash. That, obviously was a completely unexpected payment for us and very inconvenient, but that was Expedia's fault, not...
