I’m writing this review sitting in a “5 star” Marriott , wishing I was back at Simi. I was a bit skeptical by the pictures on the website but once we arrived, everything was A - OK. The hotel has everything you need for an enjoyable ski vacation. From a ski room with heated boot warmers, to fresh cake when you get back from the mountain and a spa with sauna/steam room/hot tub to warm up. The free breakfast was great, plenty of options and everything tasted fresh. The room itself was nice, not huge but comfortable. The bed was good (except it was 2 pushed together so hard to sleep as a couple) and the bathroom was new and nice. Everything was super clean and we loved the bathrobe and slippers! My only complaint is that you can’t really control the temperature in the rooms. It was boiling hot so we turned off the heat and opened the windows but the room was still super warm. I prefer to sleep in cold :-). The staff was beyond friendly and accommodating including picking us up from and driving us to the train station.

Read moreWe loved our stay at Hotel Simi. The location is convenient to the train station, the gornergrat train, and all that the village offers. It’s also very quiet, so there’s no risk that nightlife will interfere with sleep. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast is outstanding. The quality of the food is very high with a nice selection of breads, jams, juices, cheeses (the usual assortment included a Swiss mountain cheese, Gorgonzola, and an aged goat), European style yogurts, Swiss muesli, fresh fruit, and some made to order options like soft boiled or fried eggs and crêpes. The ski locker room was kept nice and tidy and we really appreciated the heated boots in the morning. Note that you can rent lockers at Bayard by the train station if you don’t like walking in boots carrying skis. The afternoon sweet treat (a rotation of cakes and fruit crumbles) and coffee was another nice touch. Finally, I want to make the point that the entire hotel is kept in impeccable...
Read moreGreat hotel for families! The rooms were spacious and the location was great... at the foot of the main street. Several amenities are provided including breakfast, spa and sauna, shuttle service to lifts and more. There's a bar to hang out at the end of the night and coffee, water, and snacks are served in the lobby each day. The staff is also extremely flexible and accommodating and provide great advise. I heard that the place was a little run down... that's just not true. It's not the Ritz Carlton... some people are ridiculous... they get to Zermatt thinking they'll be staying at an ultra-luxury hotel paying a budget hotel price. You can find a super nice hotel in Zermatt if you're willing to pay $1000k + /night... which is what happens when you show up with a family of four plus. Hotel Simi gives you everything you need and the space for a large family at an excellent price for...
