So I had a good and bad experience here as a tourist.
Good: Tried a true ApfelStrudel. Did you know these strudels are technically wrapped in dough? Mind blown. The filling was pretty good, the was dough-y.
Bad: My mom came here in the morning and was waiting for her turn to order. There was a non asian woman standing right next to her but was obviously behind her. When it was my mom's turn to order, she stepped up to order but the employee pointed to the non asian customer next to her and was like, "no it's her turn". My mom said, "excuse me? I've been waiting here for 10min and am before her" and the employee was shocked at her response in english and apologized.
I think the employee assumed that my mom didn't speak english so decided to call forward the non asian woman. I can't confirm that this is a racial thing, but this is what it seemed like when you watched what was going on. So, if you're a non european customer, i'd recommend being aware that you don't get taken...
Read moreI went there for breakfast. The food was standard and the waiter was nice. Prices are expensive but I had already seen it before I order so that’s ok too. When I already arrived there, there were birds. We are in the Alpine region. I gave a few pieces from my cracker to the birds on my table. And an old lady came and told me to not feed the birds because they shit. Normally, that is a pretty normal request and I wouldn’t be offended by it. But the way she said it was very rude. It was her attitude. I asked the other nice waiter whether she is the owner and the waiter said yes. I am surprised how rude a cafe owner is to their customers. It left me with a bad taste. After telling me that, 5 minutes later she started shooshing the birds all over the cafe while giving me a look as if I am responsible for all the birds. I wouldn’t recommend going there. I cannot believe I paid over 20 CHF for some eggs and coffee to be...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a good restaurant to get breakfast at I’d recommend the food here the most of any place in Zermatt. That being said, they are very understaffed in peak hours if you are looking to sit and eat. They charge extra if you sit and eat for every item, and despite getting the exact same meal 3 mornings in a row we were charged 3 different prices which I am certainly to blame for partially for not checking the bill thoroughly but it is genuinely obscene when looking at the price variation. Like I said, the food is great, the prices are honestly not bad but you need to check the receipt before you pay it (even though they don’t give you one) and be aware they are going to try to charge you for every service fee, sit down surcharge, water refill surcharge etc.…...
