So I had a good and bad experience here as a tourist.

Good: Tried a true ApfelStrudel. Did you know these strudels are technically wrapped in dough? Mind blown. The filling was pretty good, the was dough-y.

Bad: My mom came here in the morning and was waiting for her turn to order. There was a non asian woman standing right next to her but was obviously behind her. When it was my mom's turn to order, she stepped up to order but the employee pointed to the non asian customer next to her and was like, "no it's her turn". My mom said, "excuse me? I've been waiting here for 10min and am before her" and the employee was shocked at her response in english and apologized.

I think the employee assumed that my mom didn't speak english so decided to call forward the non asian woman. I can't confirm that this is a racial thing, but this is what it seemed like when you watched what was going on. So, if you're a non european customer, i'd recommend being aware that you don't get taken...

Fuchs Bakery & Bistro in Zermatt became our go-to spot, not just once, but multiple times during our stay. Whether it was for that essential morning caffeine fix or a midday pastry craving, this place never let us down. Initially, we hadn’t planned on diving into the chocolate scene, but the friendly staff had us at 'sample.' After a delightful description of their handmade chocolates, we couldn’t resist taking a box with us.

Truly, if you're in Zermatt and have a sweet tooth for high-quality Swiss chocolate, Fuchs Bakery & Bistro is where you need to be. Plus, the vibe in their upstairs seating area is just what you need for a peaceful café moment, complete with a charming street view of Zermatt. It’s the perfect blend of cozy atmosphere, delightful treats, and...

This place here is right in the middle of Zermatt.

Sweets, bread, pastry and pies. Some tea or coffee to go with. If any of this is to your liking, then this place is a good option.

Weather permitting you definitely should try to grab the (only) table outside. Sit down and watch the world go by. Perfect for people-watching.

Coffee and tea are fine (really hot), but the biggest (positive) surprise was the pie. We had a slice of the Blueberry Pie. Homemade and tasty! The berries had the right balance between sweet and sour. Mostly they are too sour for our taste, but no here. A great piece of pie.

A nice little place. If you got some time on your hands, you should...

Our experience in this place was unfortunately not very good. We arrived around 17:45-17:50, the waitress took some time to come to our table. When she finally came, she said we could not order food anymore because the kitchen closes at 18:00 (it was exactly 17:57). So we ordered just coffee and decided to grab something from the counter downstairs. When we ordered downstairs the lady - also not friendly at all - got tetchy saying that we should order food upstairs. Anyway, the snacks were good and the prices are also reasonable, so I guess we just got unlucky that day with the staff.

If you happen to be in Zermatt you would see Fuchs bakery everywhere. Their pastry was not bad, you would find all the basic breakfast pastries and Swiss specialties, just the tart that I didn’t like at all. Here at the bistro you can get a table upstairs next to the window which gives a nice view and a nice atmosphere. However, the waitress that served us at the beginning was not friendly at all, we came back the day after and other ladies were a lot nicer. Price was reasonable. p/s: it was the rhubarb tart (in added photo) that I didn't like, the black forest cake was nice though
