We have been to a number of towns in the Cotswolds, as we really love the region. This was our first time in Winchcombe, and we fell in love with the town and the cottage very quickly. The cottage has everything you need, and they provide a nice welcome pack. The decor is modern, the bathroom beautiful and well-equipped, and the bed is very comfortable with views of the hills from the bedroom. The lounge-kitchen-diner is very well designed and functional. There is a lot of information on the area, including walking guides and a map. The TV has Netflix in case you get bored of the amazing walks and great selection of independent shops and dog-friendly pub-restaurants. It is only a short walk to local supermarkets. We recommend the Corner Cupboard for the best value meal, and the Lion Inn for closer fayre (though more ezpensive): nice real ales, selection of gins and excellent Sunday lunch. There is a choice of mostly free carparking. This is also the place to go if you like history. Sudeley Castle is walking distance, and there are signs all around describing 4000 years of history. We call The Bolt Hole our bolt hole within a bolt hole....
Read moreWe had a wonderful stay with Unique Cotswold Cottages recently, staying at the Bolt Hole in Winchcombe. The cottage was located along a street with beautiful historic buildings and ideally placed to visit Stow on the Wold, Snowshill, Bourton on the Water, Broadway and Lower Slaughter.
The Bolt Hole was very clean, with high end furnishings and fittings, featuring a log burner in the lounge, which was ideal for a cosy evening after a day exploring, a kitchen with every appliance you could wish for, upstairs a large comfortable bed with en-suite bathroom and a roll top bath.
We took our Labrador with us, who was well catered for with a bed, towel, bowls and dog treats! An impressive Smart TV in the lounge and access to Netflix, a nice touch of a welcome pack with wine and nibbles.
This is also the place to go if you like history. Sudeley Castle is within walking distance, and there are signs all around describing 4000 years of history.
You can unload your car right outside the cottage and then park about 100 metres in either direction on roads in the village.

Read moreAmanda was the best host! She responded super quickly to me, was extremely kind and helpful with a request I made and the process of booking / checking in was so easy. We arrived slightly early and called Ginny the housekeeper for the property who said we were able to check in early which was lovely (appreciate this is not always possible but great if they can, they will let you) the cottage was stunning! Amazing decor, all extremely comfortable, two smart tvs and lovely welcome goodies for us and our dog too. Love that dogs are not an extra charge like so many places as well. The location was fantastic super short flat walk into bourton on the water which is a beautiful little village but the cottage was just far enough that you felt it was a calm and peaceful retreat too. The added bonus being the parking space which is so hard to find in the Cotswolds when only sleeping 2. Couldn’t rate this cottage or the service from Amanda and Ginny any higher. Thank you for such a...
