We had a decent stay. My boyfriend and I traveled from Mississippi to go to Six Flags. This hotel was the cheapest in the area that we could find. And it's in such a convenient area to pretty much all the main attractions in the area. I read over reviews before booking here and many people said it was pretty clean which they were right. They rooms were really nice for only being a 2 star hotel. I have a fear of bed bugs, but we looked and none were found in our room. The king size bed was nice and comfy. The blanket on the bed was really thin, but it was a cotton type material so it kept you really warm. The air conditioner in the room worked well, also. I like to keep it pretty cold during the night. We had no problems with that. The lampshades in our room had tears, though. The lobby was nice too. It was just small and dirty. The floor was also sticky with big dirty spots everywhere all throughout the day. The tables were cleaned regularly though. At breakfast everyone was cramped in the small area and all the tables were dirty. There were only two waffle makers, cereal, and bagels for breakfast. Pretty much what you'd expect from a 2 star hotel so no complaints. The halls were decent. They looked updated. The elevator worked, but we used the stairs mainly. It was always pretty warm in the halls and stair wells like they didn't have air conditioning. The halls and elevator didn't smell any different to me than regular hotels and elevators. The smell wasn't bad in other words. Our room came with a coffee maker, microwave and a refrigerator. The refrigerator was so cold it froze everything we kept in it. The bathroom was nice. Everything was updated. The bathroom was really clean also. I liked how there was two toilet paper roll holders, plus an extra roll of tissue and a box of tissues in the bathroom. There was also a heat lamp that I thought was pretty neat. The view from our balcony, on the other hand, wasn't that great. The view was of an old abandoned gas station, which is right beside the hotel and the interstate. The parking lot was pretty dirty. There were liquor bottles and trash all around, and all of the grass was grown up. However, the front parking lot wasn't as bad. There was also a Mexican restaurant within walking distance right next door which was cool. There were two screen doors on the balcony. These doors blocked out noise from the interstate tremendously. However, there was a loud car with subs in the parking lot a couple nights. That was a bit annoying, but it wasn't too bad. The room all together was pretty quiet. We didn't have any trouble with any inside noise. It worked for me and I am a super light sleeper. This hotel has cheap card keys. Our card keys messed up 3 times while we were here, and wouldn't let us into our room. We had to go to the front to get new ones. This was definitely annoying, but for the price I paid for the room, I can't really complain. The staff was very friendly, though. This included the house cleaning ladies and people up front. I had no problem with any of them. We paid for our 3 night stay upfront when we checked in. I would stay in this hotel again and recommend it to other people. I'm a clean freak and pretty peculiar when it comes to cleanliness, and I felt clean and safe staying here. The rooms were...
Read moreI have pretty moderate expectations of a two star hotel. I still do expect customer service and professionalism. The manager at this location, Anshul, is in need of some serious coaching around what both of those terms mean. Aside from the musty smell, the nonworking key slots and the broken room, safe, which resulted in my laptop being inaccessible, I was bitten by some sort of insect, likely bedbugs. The gentleman at the front desk was actually very kind and appropriate and was dismayed at the sight of my bites. He told me that he couldn’t really do anything other than put it in a new room, and that they would follow their protocol for bedbugs. I would have to wait until the manager came back the next day to talk up in detail about the situation. I wish I could post the pictures of the amazing amount of bites that I have on my arms and back. Not to mention the fact that when we came home, we had to wash everything in hot water and take other precautions to assure that we did not take the bugs with us. The next day I went to meet the manager. I was waiting at a table and he walked over to me and said “what do you want?” I honestly didn’t know how to respond. I was so shocked, I asked him if he knew what it happened and he told me that they didn’t find any bedbugs that there could’ve been another type of insect or maybe I had an allergic reaction to the soap they use on their sheets. I told him that the only thing I was asking for for the inconvenience was to get a late check out. He told me that was against policy and that would not be possible. Again, I was dumbfounded. I believe other people would’ve asked for a lot more than that. I then asked him if he was willing to do anything to accommodate me as a result of the situation. He told me that he could not get me a late check out. Honestly, I was so stunned and shocked at the unprofessionalism and lack of customer service that I just got up and left. I do have to say that I’m concerned about the fact that Wyndham is willing to put its name in association with this hotel, and others like it. I love my Wyndham resorts, but I will never step foot in #Wyndham Hotel again. I do want to say that the other staff we ran across were mostly very helpful. What was clear is that they were not empowered to provide anything outside of “policy” I got the feeling that this manager rules with a heavy hand and likely does not treat his staff well. If his interaction with me is any indication of how he interacts with staff, then I would guess they have been browbeaten...
Read moreI would like to leave my review here so future guests are aware and hopefully do not go through the same situation.
The hotel itself is clean and well-maintained. I had no issues regarding cleanliness or comfort. I initially booked one night after missing my check-in at another hotel due to a delayed flight. The next morning, impressed by the good service and convenient location, I informed the front desk that I would like to extend my stay for two more nights.
I want to highlight that the night front desk attendant was very polite and attentive — he provided great service during check-in, and I appreciated his professional attitude.
However, the next day I had an unpleasant experience. While I was on the phone helping a friend with a flight issue, I unintentionally went about two hours past the check-out time. Still, I had already called reception to inform them that I was coming down shortly to pay for the additional nights.
Before I could even get dressed and change out of my pajamas, a man knocked on my door aggressively and in a very rude manner. I opened the door and asked what was going on, and he demanded I come downstairs immediately. I explained that I wasn’t dressed yet and shut the door to quickly get ready. I then called the front desk and politely asked for just 10 minutes to change clothes — but they refused and said they couldn’t wait.
While I was still getting dressed, the same man came back and knocked again, trying to open the door multiple times. I won’t lie — I felt scared. I was traveling alone, and that behavior was extremely inappropriate and invasive.
When I went downstairs to pay, I chose not to comment further to the receptionist, as I understand it wasn’t directly her fault. However, the man next to her spoke to me in a harsh and disrespectful tone. I ended up paying for only one extra night instead of two, as the room they had assigned to me wasn’t properly reserved, despite me clearly stating I would be staying through Sunday.
Again, I had no complaints about the room itself, and the night receptionist was excellent. But I see absolutely no reason for a man to knock so aggressively on a woman’s door — twice — and try to open it, especially when she is alone. That behavior was unacceptable and made me...
