J-Prime Steakhouse — Restaurant in Austin

I know J Prime from San Antonio and was so fired up to see they opened in Austin! I took my fiancée this past Sunday for a special date night.

We met Miguel the second we walked in. From the moment we arrived we felt like Queen & King, it was like they were waiting for us. And it was 5 star all the way through!

Miguel is such a good guy. He runs the show and makes sure the patrons feel welcome and comfortable. We literally felt like we made a friend. That’s saying a lot with just one dinner! Such kudos to him. He represents the place and you can tell just by connecting with him that everything was going to be grand!

Jasmine our server was fabulous and did not steer us wrong! She was attentive and just lovely! She was excellent!

The food? Was OMG delicious!!!!! Their summer salad special was so so good! We are foodies and have dined at many steakhouses and my man LOVES a good steak!! This wasn’t just good. His J Prime ribeye was right up there at the top of the top! So major thumbs up!

Also I have to give a shout out to the Brussels Sprouts! So creatively done and delicious! Complements to the chef and their staff! Oh and the wagyu beef appetizer with a sizzling hot stone is to die for!

Then the dessert menu in itself is a fascinating discussion piece. Such a wide array of amazing sounding choices- you have to order even if you are full. We went for the Bananas Foster made by the lovely gentleman who dazzled us with his culinary skills and created amazing scents with the homemade caramel. It was quite the show to watch and it tasted just WOW!!!!

The whole experience was amazing and we feel excellent value too for what you get! The vibe and design of the place is upscale, elegant and beautiful. Their birthday balloons as also so creative and elegant! This is not a traditional stuffy steakhouse at all. You feel elevated and comfortable!

It was their one year anniversary and they celebrated with complimentary champagne too.

Also a big shout out to Michelle the banquet manager. J Prime will be represented Oct 25th 2023 at the Austin Film Festival Food and Film Fundraising Party raising money for young filmmakers. We are so excited to have them participate, we are honored they will showcase their skills at the event! OK you're going to have to bear with me, This was a friend's dinner, party of 4, It was me and 3 beautiful ladies including my love. I was afforded the rare opportunity and pleasure to dine with some of the most fascinating, hilarious, creative, funny people and quite honestly the company was better than the food. J-prime starts out with a complimentary Amuse-bouche which has caviar but the serving vessel a round toast hides the nature and purity of really great caviar. I couldn't taste it at all. But it's a nice idea. We started with the crab cake and escargo and 2 of the ladies had raw oysters. Our cocktails ranged from classic vodka martini to appletini's, old fashioned with tequila, and a citrus forward mezcal. Our 1st round was quite good. The crab cake was all crab and had a really good spicy flavoring to it, the escargo was buttery and delicious with tons of cheese and these little biscuits on top were lovely, the oysters were delicious and fresh and all the cocktails were really well done. We had a new server his name was David, he was very nice and still learning his way but he did a really good job. Our 2nd round we had a white wine pairing with our appetizers and I tried the lobster bisque, it was actually quite good perfect amount of acidity I could taste the Sherry it's definitely well done. For our main we all ordered steak, a petit fliet au pouvie, a wagu NY Strip, and an A5 wagu sirloin. Sides included the corn, truffle Mac n cheese, and asparagus. We paired our steaks with Trefethen Cab from Oak Knoll it was delicious. The steaks were all cooked perfectly and had great flavor. OK I'm gonna get a little deep here. Men listen UP! The women are out her and all they want is someone fun and nice. So take a shower, clean yourself, wear clean clothes, look presentable, be respectful buy dinner, have a good time, don't have a whole lot of expectations, just be yourself and more than likely you're gonna meet someone really nice. And mostly importantly the women out there want the same things we want, good relationship, great sex, good food, someone to talk too. We all pretty much want the same things so put some clean pants on and show the women a good time. I know I found all of these things and more. I booked a night here for my boyfriend's birthday, and from the moment that we stepped in the doors, it was literally the best dining experience I have ever had. The vibe was modern, clean, upscale, but also comfortable with a great selection of upbeat, up to date songs playing.

The hosts immediately welcomed my boyfriend with a happy birthday, and took a giant, lit, perfectly round balloon with them to our table. Our table was a gorgeous booth where we could sit comfortably together side by side and had some privacy.

I have to literally start a new paragraph simply to gush about our two servers, Hunter and Cameron. They were both so welcoming, so warm, so kind, so knowledgeable, and even though this entire experience was already 5 stars alone they elevated it to 10 stars easily. They were so attentive but I felt like we had privacy to enjoy our meal, they knew the menu back and front and gave AMAZING recommendations, and literally went above and beyond every chance they got. I recently was sick and though I've been given a clean bill of health, I had a residual cough that I tried very hard to control but could not. Hunter brought me two cups of perfectly warm water with lemon to make me feel better. Without exaggeration the best service I've ever had.

We ordered east coast oysters, which were fresh, delicious, beautiful, and a perfect start to our meal. We then ordered the Wagyu sampler, which was cooked to perfection and which my boyfriend said was the best steak he's ever had. The creamy potatoes and asparagus were perfect and flavorful, but not too heavy - the perfect accompaniment to our steak. When our meal was over, they brought out a complimentary celebration cake, which was HUGE, beautiful, delicious, and so fun with sparklers.

Everything they did made this night incredibly special. I want to note that we were kind of obnoxious because we were trying to also book flights at the same time for this weekend, and we ended up staying a very long time to finalize plans. Not a single time did I feel rushed or like we were an imposition. This is going to be my go to for special dinners, work dinners with clients, and basically anyone I kind of like for the foreseeable future. Thank you...
