Do not book this hotel unless you have to!
This is a family-owned franchise (Best Western), and I believe it's important that we support our neighborhood businesses and our local communities However, some changes need to be made here if they intend to stay open. In my personal opinion.
The rooms are cute and dare I say... cozy? The decor has a hint of the decor in India, but there's a few Creature Comforts that are missing that would make our visit to this Motel a bit more comfortable, since we're away from our homes.
Sadly, it doesn't matter that it's a family-owned business when we are not meant to feel like we're at home here.
BREAKFAST!:
The orange & apple juices are served mixed with water by ½ ! It's the worst breakfast I've ever been served! Even Motel 6 is better with just coffee in the morning. Don't offer something you don't have!
They are cutting Corners to the point where I SAW the same three pieces of bread in the lobby where they serve breakfast and watched the lady who works in the morning use the tongs and a mask on her face to put those three pieces of bread back into the no-name store brand bread bag it came in! Simply disgusting! They should have just thrown it out!
Other delectable offerings at breakfast:
STALE MINI MUFFINS MINI CINNAMON BUNS. QUAKER OATMEAL PACKETS 2 CEREAL DISPENSERS with no-name brand cereal Inside the little fridge, thats right next to their broken toaster they had a glass carafe with milk in it next to a styrofoam bowl with four pats (pieces) of butter. And they have a thermos with what they call Coffee, but I call not Starbucks, not even Folgers!
That's it! That is what they call continental breakfast and this what said full breakfast on Priceline but Best Western doesn't stand behind any hotel using their name
POOL & HOT TUB:
CLOSED down by the City Health Department for overgrowth of algae & whatever else was going on.
I am a victim along with my family of false advertising!
No full breakfast, No continental breakfast, No swimming pool, no hot tub
Then there's housekeeping:
So, When you go to the office to GET the towels and sheets that you're missing, the owner in the afternoon will make sure to check your room to be sure you're not stealing they're $2 towels or $3 sheets! They will make you feel like a criminal, not like part of the family.
They are here to do a job and not to make you comfortable.
I am truly torn over this, but I'm over being nice. I'd rather be honest. I didn't feel at home here. Again, I was made to feel like a criminal when the owner wanted to check my room for the missing towels & sheets! I wouldn't steal this low quality stuff.Just because I save my money on hotel stays doesn't mean I don't any.
So:
The rooms are clean If more than 2 in your party? MAKE SURE that they put enough towels, etc? There is no microwave There is no safe 2 flat sheets & 1 blanket p/ bed. There's a coffee maker
The housekeeper didn't even REMEMBER to replace the pillow cases, towels, washcloths, nor hand towels.
It's just not worth the money. It's better than most Motel 6, but do consider that a 2 br apt/house rents at about $35-$50 a day around this...

If you are going to knots or Disneyland and just doing absolutely nothing else but sleeping and maybe taking a shower, and you are trying to save money for the fun, you’re ok. I would just advise, bring your own blankets and pillow and ask them to clean the bathroom after you’re already there. The star rating I see makes me feel like there is roaches and dirty walls but it’s definitely not that. BUT I will say I had clear signs of things not being cleaned before I was there, for one, like the tub being clogged by flowers from the ones who’d stayed before me. I turned on the water once and it was immediately flooded.
Now if you are in a situation like me, where I was sent there by a job who booked me and it was not in my control, as well as I had to stay there a full week and possibly 2 (still waiting to find out), you might have more issues. Such as:
The office staff is hardly ever in the office, if you need help with any thing. Which can be very frustrating, obviously (with things like the tub flooding, or needing a cleaning)
The parking wasn’t great and had I stayed through the weekend, I might not have had a place to safely park.
I am pretty sure the owners lived there, and lucky for me one of their rooms was next to mine, they smoked and it smelled like cigarettes in my room often.
And or lastly and my biggest issue… I called before I came to confirm there was a microwave on site. I did this because I am doing my very best to focus on my health and food intake. Also? I am very broke, this job I went for was a new one, I spent a lot of money getting prepared for this new job because it’s also my own business and I am contracted in. I needed to not spend while I was there. Knowing I was going to be there a week, I prepped my food. The day I arrived I asked where it was and they told me but said it did not work. I told them my situation they said they would try to get it fixed. Mind you it looks like a $30 microwave $50 max. I understand everyone is hurting for money in these times in California but seriously? So I check with them again the next day after I realize the tub is flooded when I get back from work. They said, oh we’ve told maintenance about it, I said ok. Well maintenance had to come to my room to unclog the tub, asked him, he said he knew nothing about it. By the next day they put an out of service sign on the microwave… for a $30 microwave.
And so I practically starved the whole week because I had no money to feed myself. And wasted food in my fridge. So that 2 star rating feels right to me, but again I guess it depends on your situation.
Oh and no reason to reply Surestay, if you cared, you would have done more in the moment,...
Read moreBEWARE!!! ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE PLACE!!!! Don't throw your money away. I booked through Priceline and arrived fairly late 2:30am due to driving straight from San Francisco with my 4 sons. The room was filthy!!! Beds not made, dirty wet towels on floor, food crumbs everywhere, trash everywhere, hair in bathroom. When I informed front desk, he was indifferent, could care less. I asked for another room (clean) but they were completely booked. He said, "ohh its not clean? really? well I guess I can clean it, but I really don't want to, do you really want me to?" I asked for a refund immediately. The front desk guy stated he had NOT run my credit card yet and not to worry, no charges would be made on the card. I was leery of this, so he agreed to send an email to Priceline and myself informing no charge or penalty for cancel would be applied. I received the email and left to find another hotel. Well guess what? They charged me anyway and I have yet to receive a refund. They charged me for 2 nights of which I never stayed. It has been Hell trying to get my money back. Every single time I have called the hotel the manager is never in or is too busy to take the call. I booked through Priceline and they have now intervened. They have also called the hotel numerous times to have Portola remedy their error, but no action has taken place. It has gotten so bad that Priceline has sent their area representative to speak to the hotel manager in person. Thankfully, after 45 days since I was charged erroneously, Priceline has agreed to refund me because Portola has still taken no action to do the right thing. Had I not booked through Priceline, I would have received $0.00 refund. Charging me for services not provided is the same as STEALING!!! To add to all the frustration It took 2 hours to find another hotel in the area because every place was booked. The room smelled and furnishings were NOTHING like the pictures on the hotel site. Pictures extremely deceiving. Room furnishings were extremely Old and musty. Nasty dirty carpet. Don't stay there. Shameful place. BEWARE.... YOU...
