While the room was clean, the cooling setup was inadequate. The room relied on a window A/C unit and three box fans, which needed to be strategically placed to keep the bedroom cool. Turning off the fans caused the room to warm up immediately. The property did not have a grill onsite for cooking, and the only available means for preparing food was a microwave. Be warned that if an unforeseen hurricane is approaching, you will not receive a refund for any part of your stay. Despite the obvious danger, the hotel refused to refund me for the unused nights. The staff was uncooperative and showed no empathy for the situation. Their snarky response was, “We are quite accustomed to the weather." This lack of concern for guest safety and inflexibility during a natural disaster is unacceptable, especially when local food businesses are closed and there are no other means of making food. The room and the overall property were clean and well-maintained. The motel is conveniently located within walking distance of an ice cream shop. Check-in was smooth and parking was easy. Overall, while the location and cleanliness of the motel were positive aspects, the poor cooling system, lack of cooking facilities, and the inflexible and unsympathetic response during a hurricane make it difficult to recommend.

I think perhaps we stayed at a different Silver Sands Motel from the people who gave it 1 star, because we thought it was great. The owner/manager was very friendly and welcoming and the room was lovely. The kitchen was well stocked and a nice touch was the table laid out for dinner with plates, napkins and wine glasses. The room was very clean, including the bathroom and kitchen. The pool area is lovely too, with plenty of chairs, sun loungers and tables. With the umbrellas and palm trees, it is perfect to seek out the sun or the shade, whichever you prefer. Yes, the pool is small, but so what - it is ideal for small kids and anyone who wants to cool down. The motel is in a great location just a short, 5-minute walk from the beach. Anyone who gives this place less than 4 stars should maybe think about staying in one of Clearwater's high rise, corporate hotels and apartments - if they can afford it, that is. We would definitely prefer to stay in a small, intimate place like Silver Sands. Be careful what you wish for - in the years we have been coming to Clearwater many of the small motels have been bulldozed and replaced by high rise hotel blocks, which is a real shame. In conclusion, Silver Sands is really worth 5 stars.

Owner is nice. Apartment seemed cozy but was dirty after a closer look. Mold in bathroom, garbage was found in room and under couch. Grill still had food debri caked on, trash is always overflowing right next to the grill they want you to cook food on. Decorations taped up around the kitchen area to hide imperfections or damage. Duck tape used in fridge for shelf, pools are dirty at all three of their hotels. Silver Sands, Beach House and Sand Point Resorts. Hole in ceiling where a smoke detector should be. My patio view is debri on the roof. The A/Cs barely cool the room. I booked a month and after 3 days of bringing the pools to her attention and getting excuses everyday, I asked to leave early. Charge me your regular rate for the three days and we would like to leave and her answer was NO. I expected her to charge me a little cancellation fee, anything, but I got NO! I came back to the room today and she took the lawn chairs for sun bathing and replaced with two seating chairs.

This place is absolutely awful. Me and my wife booked a stay over the phone with the manager and as we were driving in from Savannah Georgia, she called and asked for a $500 deposit. We found this to be very, very strange. When we got to the hotel Our room was not ready. They said it would be several hours before we could have a room. After waiting several hours, the manager came out and told us that the room would not be available at all. We had just given her a $500 deposit we asked for the deposit back immediately. The manager was apprehensive and said she couldn’t refund the deposit because deposits are nonrefundable. This place is absolutely criminal. We are fighting to get our deposit back and we are baffled. While we were there, we noticed how filthy the hotel was that other guests were upset about broken air, conditioners, and plumbing being broken. We noticed a lot of cockroaches and insects. This was not the same place that was pictured in the advertisements and on the website. Apparently there are several other properties these people own and they advertise the nicest ones, but you don’t receive those rooms when you arrive. What these people are doing is a complete and utter fraud. When you’re driving across state lines to go enjoy a vacation with your family and you get ripped off there is nothing worse. This place is probably the worst hotel experience we’ve ever witnessed. I would heard anyone who is thinking about staying at this hotel to not stay here and not book a room. Why these people ask for deposits is beyond me I’ve never had a hotel ask for a deposit ever. But just know if you give them a deposit the manager will never return your money. We are filing fraud claims with our credit card company as we speak. Thank you Silver stands for ruining our vacation. You people need to be shut down...

FRUAD ALERT!!! DO Not book here EVER!!.I was traveling from Phoenix..Spoke to The manager (the owner) this morning 6-27-25 about a 1 month stay for July.She asked for a $100 deposit to hold the room which seemed odd.Then she asked for $200,then she texted back and said she needs $500..She asked that I pay with Venmo, or cash app.Those are all platforms that have a no recourse policy.You cant get your money back if you have an issue like I do.That is why she wanted me to pay through venmo,so she could rip me off.I found that very odd.I didn't feel comfortable so I told her I only would use a credit card.I gave her my card number.Within a couple of hours she charged me $1500 ,$500 3 times..this was verified through american express..I immediately tried calling her She then stopped answering my phone calls..She then texted" I did not charge you" American express has verified she did.I told here I was filing a police report with Clearwater PD (which I did) and filing a fraud claim with Amex. a few minutes ago She refunded $1000 but is refusing to refund the other $500...This is literally a nightmare.Look at the reviews..It seems to be a pattern.This is literally the worst thing I have ever had to deal with travel related.This is a crime.Do not give these people your credit card info.This is a scam.Total fraud.The manager literally kept charging my card all afternoon as if I wasn't going to find out? These people are criminals.GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK!!!If you are traveling from out of town,these people will take advantage of you and take your money.DO NOT ever book this hotel unless you want to get ripped off.And JUST KNOW that anything The manager says is a LIE.Shes a con artist.Read the reviews please before you loose your hard earned money...
