I generally don't write a lot of reviews because, to be blunt, who has the time? Life moves fast and my time is precious, so it takes someplace truly spectacular to inspire me to review it. Save the "Level 7 Google Reviewer" socks for somebody who has too much time on their hands (Yes, that's a real thing). Anyway, we happened to be staying overnight at a nearby hotel and wandered across the street after reading some of the reviews. Best. Decision. Ever. Poy Thai actually became a highlight of our excursion - as we're still talking about how amazing it was 24 hours and 500 miles later! First off - don't be deceived by the mirrored/reflective exterior, because the interior is really striking. Others have taken pictures that do it justice, and they're accurate. If I hadn't seen the interior pics we probably wouldn't have eaten there - so thanks, previous reviewers! From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, the staff was super polite and attentive (without being overbearing) as well as highly efficient. Although there's a Thai menu and a sushi menu, we only ordered from the Thai menu. Note: there's not any vegetarian/vegan sushi listed. However, the Thai food we ordered was ridiculously good, some of the best I've personally ever tasted - and I've tasted a lot of it after 36 years of being a vegetarian/vegan. I had the Basil Thai with tofu, my significant other had Ginger Stir Fry, and our two teenagers had Pad Thai with chicken and Massaman Curry. I not only sampled the Ginger Stir Fry last night (which was amazing), my Love gifted me the leftovers for lunch today - and it made the drive so much more bearable. I mean, come on, our experience last night was SO GOOD that I sat down after driving eight hours home to write a Google review! The bottom line: I've definitely had great Thai before, yet I've never been inspired to write about it - until I ate...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWas having a pretty good day.Decided that I treat myself to some nice Thai Sushi. This happened to be the closest place to me. I must tell you.Wow!! I tried the vegetable soup and Sweet Pork appetizer. The dipping sauce for the pork was extremely flavorful! Will repeatš! I highly recommend! Bon appetit
UPDATE!
Back home from a business trip.
I ordered dine in then went back the next day for take out. The exact same appetizer.
A month later. Take out.
What happened ? Did you change the recipe? The dipping sauce for the pork strips was nothing but cheap soy sauce with onions and green peppers! Not a good combination for pork strips. The chicken satay was burnt and blackened on one side. The vegetable wonton soup was mostly liquid and cilantro 10% scallions and vegetables! Where was the delicious meal I ordered 2 times last month? For $26.67 I expected the same wonderful flavors for that kind of price a month ago. I ended up getting a $12.00 meal from a cheap take out joint by some highway gas station. Are you under new management? New chiefs? Look folks. I will pay high prices for a meal from a trained culinary chef every day. Money is not a problem. But the quality of flavor is a must.
I love this establishment and want to return. But...
See picture... A month ago. Dine in. First visit Notice the dipping sauce. It was not like that This is what I expected at my 3rd...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI admit that having lived in Bangkok for 3 months doesnāt make me an authority in Thai food. But, my order from Poy was one of the best Thai foods Iāve had in the US. The green curry was delightful and the bamboo shoots melted in your mouth. This is very rare, they are generally chewy. Kudos to the chef. The amount was also plentiful, which is very rare for a green curry dish, at least in my hometown Atlanta. The Thai coconut soup was amazing and it had the perfect blend of mushrooms and meat. Fantastic dish! Our 3 yo loved the chicken satay. You know how crab Rangoon is generally teeny tiny? Theirs was the largest Iāve ever eaten. With all the sauces they provided with it, money was well spent on that. I also had some of their signature sushis. What caught my eye was the amount of fish in it. The rice was so thin. Delicious. Also, thanks to the employee who helped me carry our take out to our car and provided us extra utensils. The web ordering was seamless and easy. One recommendation I would have is to have sushi ingredients in the online menu. The names arenāt very descriptive. Overall, fantastic Thai food. You wonāt be...
