I have had a week to reflect on this experience and think I can write a balanced review, but I caution anyone to adjust your expectations when booking here. We booked for 7 days for a milestone anniversary trip and it was more than we had ever spent on accomodations, so we were expecting a lot, it was not what we expected, but in the end it worked.|Positives:|1. location was at the north end of town, so easy access to the park without having to navigate town traffic twice a day.|2. location was on a quiet street with a garden patio that was nice to relax on after a long hike.|3. We had the room with kitchen, so we could shop at the local grocery and prepare our own meals so we could get to hiking trails before sun up, the hotel adjusted our bill to reflect that we never used their included breakfast, which we appreciated.|4. There is some onsite parking, and we never had a problem finding a spot.|5. Bedroom and bathroom were fine, clean and comfortable.|6. The staff were fantastic, through all of our problems they were friendly, courteous, and made every effort to solve our issues.||Negatives:|1. The room is in a lower level (not quite a basement) and the view was a privacy fence and windows that had not been cleaned in a very long time. Across the fence were the dumpsters for another building.|2. When we walked in, we saw mismatched, furniture that was heavily stained and the couch had collapsed in the middle and could not be used (they did come and prop the center leg back up). Carpet in the bedroom also heavily stained.|3. We were charged a $35 dollar a day resort fee, and when we asked what it was for, the first response was "room cleaning". Our last night I asked another staffer and was told it was for access to a pool and exercise room at a community center in town, would have been nice to know before our last night. |4. We like to hike all day and return about 4 pm for a rest, then go out again, the cleaner knocked on our door after 4 pm to ask if we wanted cleaning service. They came twice in the 7 days we were there.||The staff and the manager we dealt with were very sympathetic and adjusted our bill significantly due to all the problems. Just don't expect the reality to match the idyllic photos and descriptions and it was an adequate place to...
Read moreWe recently stayed at this property for a week while visiting Jackson. While the town itself was lovely, our experience at the inn left a lot to be desired—mainly because it didn’t match the descriptions and photos on the website.||We were originally placed in Room 111, a King room, and it was honestly one of the most depressing rooms we've ever stayed in. It lacked even the basics—like two chairs to sit on. The headboard wasn’t attached to the bed and kept banging against the wall every time we moved, making it difficult to sleep. The room looked nothing like what was advertised online. While I don’t expect perfection, I do expect something reasonably close to what’s promised.||Breakfast was another major disappointment. The website describes a chef-prepared meal with options like eggs benedict, house-made French toast, pastries, and fresh granola. What we got was basic scrambled eggs, pancakes, fruit, bread, and boxed granola. No pastries, no muffins, just options on how you want eggs cooked and burned bacon. I had even called before booking to confirm breakfast options, as I don’t eat eggs, and was assured there would be variety. The chef was not accommodating and not particularly friendly either.||Thankfully, we were moved to another room for the rest of the week, which was much more comfortable, and also gave us a rebate on breakfast. When I showed the manager the website description, he seemed surprised—it appeared he didn’t even know what was being promised online.||One final note: the website (at the time of booking) lists the property as pet-free, but we were woken up several mornings by a barking dog in a neighboring room. While I love dogs and often travel with mine, I booked here expecting a quiet, pet-free environment.||In short, the inn has potential, but the disconnect between the online description and the actual experience is too big to ignore. The furniture felt like it was cobbled together from flea markets and yard sales—mismatched, dated, and worn out. ||If management wants to avoid unhappy guests and bad reviews, they need to update the website and deliver...
Read moreGreat place Pros: Location, right near the main square in down town Jackson. Tons of restaurants and shops in easy walking distance. Breakfast was awesome! Cooked to order, daily specials, lovely ambiance, white tablecloths and nice tableware. Ample off street parking
Cons: The ‘garden king’ we reserved was in the basement. I don’t know about you but sleeping in a basement with a window looking out on the tires in the parking lot is not my idea of a good time. I said something to the woman who was checking us in and she agreed to move us. The place was pretty empty the 2 nights we stayed and she graciously upgraded us to a suite but if the place had been full we would have been stuck in the basement. I think there were only like 2 or 3 rooms down there but I don’t think they are very desirable.
The walls/floors are thin. I was surprised when one evening at about 10 PM we were laying in bed and we heard the people in the room above us come in for the evening. We could hear every step of them walking back-and-forth and we even could hear their steps going into the bathroom and hear their urine hitting the toilet! Not the nicest thing to listen to. They Really we’re not doing anything out of the ordinary so if you had someone who is actually loud it would be unbearable.
One of the staff members at breakfast was incredibly rude. We were alone in the dining room and I got up to walk 5 feet to pick up a newspaper and she came storming out of the kitchen telling me in a very rude manner to put my mask on. I had willingly worn a mask throughout the lodge all the time I had been there so I thought it was rather rude for her to jump on me in that way.
After we checked out I realized I may have left the fireplace on and tried to call to let them know. I probably called six times over a half hour. And no one would ever answer the phone. I thought it was odd since I knew there were at least three staff members there...
