The only reason I’m not giving it 1 star is that my companion’s order was acceptable. Mine? I ordered a vanilla latte, specifically at an immediately drinkable temperature (120°) due to an inability to tolerate hot temperatures on my part. When we got to the car, I took maybe 1/8 of a sip (the cup felt too hot to be 120°) and proceeded to burn both my tongue & throat (2 days later and my tongue is still in pain)! I had to wait approximately an hour before I could actually drink my latte! Once I was able to take a sizable sip, I further learned that my vanilla latte not only had next to no vanilla in it, but it was also disgusting (they clearly burnt my drink)! It was probably the 2nd worst latte I’ve ever had the displeasure of drinking (and no, I couldn’t drink all of it due to it being nasty). Additionally, when I reached my destination, I discovered that my latte burned my mouth intentionally - the person who took my order put “extra hot” on my cup! As anyone in the espresso beverage making business knows, the standard temp of a latte is 140°, making a latte of 120° warm vs hot. To have burned my mouth to the extent that it did, the latte that was made for me at this Cowboy Coffee location was easily 180° - it was THAT hot…a truly vicious creation caused by an obviously deviant & vindictive cashier. If there hadn’t been an insane amount of traffic on the road that day, preventing us from turning around to go back (we got to this location within 15 mins of closing, where the line was so long that we didn’t even reach the cashier until 5 mins before they were supposed to close), I would’ve both returned the drink for a refund and insisted on speaking with the manager (to point out the “extra hot” on my cup when I ordered it to be 120°). Their main competitor in Jackson has not once failed to make my lattes 120° when I’ve requested that specific temperature, neither have they failed to use enough vanilla for me to easily taste it…and I typically ask them to use 1 pump less than the standard amount they put in their lattes! Never again will I place an order at this location, if at any Cowboy Coffee! What’s the saying? Once bitten, twice shy? Yeah…I’ll stick with chain from Seattle that has yet to...
Read moreIt’s disappointing to have to write a negative review but I hope that it can provide the needed feedback to improve the current staffing at the downtown location. I stopped by in the early afternoon, line was long which I get - no worries about the wait although others in line say that it’s moving slower than at other times they’ve been in there. Staff at the cashier is friendly and helpful, can’t say the same about the one making the drinks. I asked for straws since they were out and got a condescending look before she shoved/restocked them. cool, maybe you’re having a bad day. when one of the drinks comes out, she slams it on the counter, spilling milk all over. Fine, you’re busy. I ask for drink carrier for all my things and she doesn’t even respond, just grabs one from the back and throws it onto the counter splashing the milk she’d already spilled. To top things off, one of the latte’s espresso is completely stuck to the bottom, tried mixing it with a straw, stirrer, & even a spoon when I got home. no luck, basically had to be scraped. this was an issue with either the espresso dosage or the machine itself. either way, she saw this before pouring the milk and did not correct the mistake. I understand the shop gets packed and it can induce stress for everyone, especially if understaffed. however, I don’t understand the need to take that out on the customers, locals or tourists. I hope I can continue to shop n support CC but really cant see myself recommending it to friends and visitors in the near future if these issues with certain staff continue, which appear to be a trend from other...
Read moreI recommend nothing about this place.
Beverages: the drip coffee was dull and lifeless. Impressive to get so little character out of a brew. The matcha latte was a pre-made, over-sweetened abomination.
Food: the “French toast muffin” had the consistency of a Nerf product, and it evoked neither French toast nor muffin. The banana bread was unusually devoid of flavour and a little dry.
Service: it’s not just that the server was rude, which she was, she seemed to almost revel in it. She started by implying we were being a bit precious by asking for an unsweetened matcha. She seemed to not know that matcha is not naturally a sweet drink. She checked the ingredients of their pre-made powder and had a laugh when she read the first ingredient was sugar.
We changed the type of muffin we wanted mid-order, but the server didn’t remove the original muffin so the bill was showing about $5 too much. We went back and forth with her condescending to me, saying it was “correct on her screen and I was reading it wrong” on my side. Eventually my wife stepped in and said no, there are two muffins listed on the order on our side. The server corrected it and made some dim quip about how she didn’t think we were ready to pay the bill yet and that there had been no error on her part. Right. All super trivial stuff that had no right to make this coffee shop look so bad.
I actually tried to walk away before finalising the order but my wife just wanted to sit down so we stayed. Even she now admits it would have been better to leave. The products were poor and the...
