Went to the White buffalo in search for a great steak. One of my friends had been there last season and talked highly about it, so had high expectations. I mean, Wyoming is steak country! We came on time, no wait, got seated in a little corner, kind of inappropriate for what this place wants to be to be honest. In the middle of the room there was a bar that was occupied by around 10-12 loud customers watching football and drinking. Didn't know what to make of this, but heard another customer ask if this was the real restaurant or just a sports bar? The waiter answered that "this was a fine dining place, not a sports bar". I couldn't stop laughing as we had the exact same observation. Well, food was ordered, a filet ($62) and a 22oz ribeye ($76). The steaks come with no sides, which is another $10-15 a piece. Sauces were some $5-7. We each had a glass or wine while we waited, hardly being able to talk together because of the loud patrons in the bar. Food arrived, steaks were pre-cut. Both of us ordered medium rare, the filet was more medium, the ribeye, more rare. Did it taste good then? Sorry to say, but this was only just ok. The atmosphere was meh, the service too. Both of us have done plenty of fine dining, this just doesn't get up there - it was outright boring, got cold fast and didn't taste much. There are plenty of good restaurants around Jackson that I would rather go to. My friend said the place reminded her about Outback steakhouse, I laughed but had to agree - a glorified steak sports bar at best. Whatever this place wants to be, tonight it wasn't. Not worth the money at all, very...
Read moreWe were really looking forward to dining here, but unfortunately the experience didn’t live up to expectations.
The positives: the steak was good.
The negatives: when we arrived at 5:05 PM for our 5:15 reservation, the staff seemed irritated, and I overheard someone say, “just tell them they have to wait.” Not a great first impression. Our server, Ramon, never really welcomed us in a way you’d expect at a fine dining restaurant, and throughout the meal we didn’t feel truly taken care of. The service was “fine,” but several times we looked at each other and thought, maybe he’s just having a rough day.
The dessert was so overly salty that we didn’t finish it. But the real disappointment came after the meal. My friend accidentally dropped her credit cards and driver’s license into the crack of the booth. Not the restaurant’s fault at all, but retrieving them was important since she needed her ID to fly home. We tried for about 15 minutes to get them out, asking for a few extra utensils to help, but eventually the manager came over—not to apologize or offer real help—but to tell us we’d need to leave and they’d “look after hours.”
After spending roughly $600 on dinner, we expected at least some empathy. Instead, when I called afterward to share my frustration, the manager dismissed me, saying they had another reservation and needed the table. All I wanted was a sincere apology. Instead, I got a forced “sorry” and was hung up on with a curt “have a great night.”
For a restaurant positioning itself as upscale, the lack of hospitality and professionalism left a lasting bad impression. We won’t...
Read moreUpdate to Kevin Landon's review. Start by reading the additional review from another patron who ate there and three guys got sick too.
Being New Year's Eve, and having an early dinner, the only source of food which could have caused the food poisoning was 100% taken in at the White Buffalo. Furthermore, upon speaking with the manager, they had an anonymous call regarding food poisoning, and a surprise visit from the health department.
Sadly, we tried to do the right thing and called the manager two days after and explained to her what happened. We were respectful to the privacy of the restaurant and the wonderful server we had that night. We simply asked for a refund, but asked that only the portion of the food to be refunded, and not the servers tip, which was extremely generous (by the way, they offered us free desserts due to the delay and wait on getting our steaks and forgetting to send one of our appetizers). I was PROMISED a refund and was thanked for letting our server keep her tip.
Well. We have no refund. And now a response in the review by a manager or owner who says we are reporting "inaccurate" details as a response.
We lost the last three days of our vacation, all over the worst case of food poisoning acquired from The Restaurant at White Buffalo Club.
These actions show that they don't care about their customers or their employees. They could have avoided these reviews altogether if they kept their...
