Absolutely! Here's a more personal, conversational take on your experience at Thai Plate, keeping the ironic praise but sounding like you're sharing with a friend rather than writing a formal critique:
My Unforgettable Night at Thai Plate – A Lesson in Culinary... Restraint!
Hey folks, just had to share about our dinner last night at Thai Plate. Wow. Just… wow. You know how you sometimes crave that big, bold Thai flavor explosion? Well, Thai Plate offered something… profoundly different. Let’s just say my taste buds are still recovering from the sheer audacity of subtlety.
We were actually pretty excited! The place looked nice – quiet, maybe a touch too quiet? – and the server was super sweet. We ordered three classics, ready to dive in:
Red Curry with Chicken: Okay, picture this: you expect that rich, coconutty warmth, right? Thai Plate said, "Nah, let's redefine 'mild'." It was like a gentle whisper of curry. The chicken? Incredibly tender, almost… ethereal? Like it had never met a spice in its life. Honestly, it was fascinating. I kept tasting, thinking, "Where is it?" A truly unique interpretation! Green Curry with Shrimp: The color was vibrant! Promised a punch. What arrived was… well, the politest green curry I've ever encountered. The shrimp were perfectly cooked (texture-wise, 10/10!) but swam in a broth that seemed afraid of its own green-ness. It was a masterclass in holding back. My friend just kept blinking at it, amazed. Lo Mein with Tofu: Now, this was the real eye-opener. The noodles? Perfectly separated, not a clump in sight! The tofu? Crisp on the outside, soft inside – impressive technique! The veggies? Bright and tender. But the flavor? Pure, unadulterated… simplicity. It wasn't bad, per se… it just wasn't… anything. Like the chef decided sauce and seasoning were overrated distractions. I kid you not, it was the purest lo mein I've ever had. Zen on a plate.
The Verdict? Were they perfectly cooked? Absolutely. Technically flawless. Was there any mess in the taste or spice level? Not a chance! Thai Plate achieved something remarkable: they served three iconic Thai dishes with all the traditional Thai flavor meticulously removed. It was impressively consistent in its… neutrality. Everything was just so very, very, very… peaceful.
Honestly? It was an experience. I have never had Thai food this… contemplative. If you're looking for a meal that won't challenge your palate, offend your senses, or leave any lingering spice, Thai Plate is your sanctuary. It’s the culinary equivalent of a beige room – impeccably clean, perfectly executed, and utterly devoid of excitement.
Will I forget it? Never. It was a bold statement in blandness. Hats off to Thai Plate for their unwavering commitment to being… different. We left full, technically satisfied, and deeply, deeply bewildered. Respect for the commitment,...
Read moreThis Thai restaurant is amazing and it has cute outdoor seating as well. It can get and stay pretty busy but we waited for an outdoor table on a Sunday night and we didn't have to wait long at all. Probably only 5 minutes max!
So they get people in and out of here quick and if it's later and their not super busy they will let you hang out and talk even if you're done with your food because that's what we did.
I was a little nervous because I have gluten allergies and while I know that curry with tofu normally doesn't have gluten, I still get weary because I am so sensitive and cross contamination sometimes even does it!
While I didn't get sick I also didn't eat much because I didn't want to, so I took it home and it was really good. But if you are intolerant you should be ok, unless you're super sensitive or have celiac. I usually use the "find me gluten free" app when looking for restaurants because people review them and you have a better idea of what actually is gluten free and what isn't.
I didn't do that with this place but it may have been on there I'm not sure. My friend had been here before so she recommended it and being that with my weird gluten and dairy allergies, Thai food is usually a safe bet. Regardless everyone's food smelled great and this place seems to be a really popular place in...

Hardest thing with this restaurant was to FIND IT :-) as the address indicates that it is on Cache St and so we were looking for it on Cache St. It took us couple of trips before I decided to drop my son in that neighborhood to look for it . Well its in one of the side streets and unless you look for it closely, you will miss it .
We ordered Red curry with Chicken ( they make it with minimum of ** spicyness and it was enough for us ), chicken Fried Rice and Chicken Noodle soup. All of them were excellent choices and were made as good as we have eaten at larger and more known restaurants in large cities .
Wait time was around 30 minutes at 7:30 PM and we know why :-)
They barely have place to sit indoor, so if you do not get indoor tables and its cold , seating outside can get a little chilly but if you can withstand the cold, they serve in containers that carry flame to keep the food warm.
Great place and great food.
Would definitely go there for next Thai...
