First off I just want to say it is very rare that I leave a bad review. However, I’m writing this as we walk out of the restaurant. I have never ever been more disrespected in a restaurant in all of my life. My husband and I are dressed casually, didn’t see a dress code anywhere on the website. We also were not familiar with the wording on the menu but this place came very recommended by our tour guide and various blogs we read in preparation for our trip. We were seated at the bar and I immediately felt we were being judged. I tried to order a drink and could not pronounce the entire thing so I just said the first word. The bartender kept asking me to repeat it and acted like he couldn’t hear me. He then proceeded to do the same with my husband. We told him we are from Texas and a little out of our comfort zone and asked for his guidance on the menu. We felt we were being made fun of and he acted very bothered when it came to us. We asked for an appetizer recommendation and he very rudely said “well for the two of you… I recommend this”. The two of us? He then came right back without even putting our order in and asked if we planned to order food. Again, we asked for a recommendation. At this point I had been on google and yelp trying to match food items to photos because I felt too embarrassed to ask. We finally settled on an item. He put them both in at the same time so they both came out together. At one point my husband accidentally spilled his drink and the bartender acted very annoyed with us. We both were already uncomfortable with how we were being treated and really just ready to leave. The food came. It was absolutely delicious as were our drinks … I’ll give credit where credit is due. The service however had me leaving in tears.
My husband surprised me with this trip for my 30th birthday and we were so excited to celebrate tonight. But I left shaking and in tears. A word of advice for the staff at this establishment… you have absolutely no idea how much money we have in our bank account. You have no idea of our financial status. However, IT SHOULD NOT MATTER! We should have been treated with the exact same respect as everyone else at that bar. I will never ever ever recommend this place to anyone. This was by far the worst experience I have ever...
Read moreSoooo we ordered the canewater salad, grilled wild mushrooms and bone marrow for starters. First off $ 14 for a salad that is what I think tasted like grass was pushing it. However the lemon vinaigrette by itself was awesome. The bone marrow was slimy and packed with seasoning. The seasoning was great yet the bone marrow was more slimy than an oyster!!!! Both were YUCK and super over priced!!!! Had our bartender not been soooo busy I'd of definitely asked if he could take them off our bill. He noticed the salad was untouched basically as well as the bone marrow I'm sure 🤢🤢🤢🤢
So why the 4 stars? We were seated at the bar as we did not have reservations and the bartender was attentive and super friendly even though we got the at opening (5 p.m.) and he was slammed with orders for drinks. Btw his drinks were INCREDIBLE. Their bread was awesome!!!! We ordered spaghetti and the pappardelle ragu which you'd think were basic decisions but OMG. I normally am a parmesan freak with spaghetti and the little I first put on it overwhelmed me. The spaghetti and meatballs were soooo good I needed no extra anything (which is my normal) so that's an incredible feat in itself lol. The ragu was incredible as well. All cooked and made inhouse which really surprised us. Back to those mushrooms ..... you'll never get mushrooms like that in the US. They topped every other restaurant we've ever ate at. Also, I noticed if 1 member of the wait staff was busy (including our bartender) there were backup people walking by cleaning up dishes, delivering food and asking if you needed anything. What a well oiled wheel. The entire crew whether or not you were in their section all worked in perfect harmony to give a maximum guest experience. Applause all around. Totally different from even our best restaurants where your server is your server and you wait until they get your food, refills etc. Super crazy to see such a team. THANK YOU FOR SHOWING how it's supposed...
Read moreVery dissapointed. Have never ate at an Italian restaurant that couldn’t accommodate no seed oils / pre-made in such cheap oil blends (“Soybean oil is used to make renewable diesel, a fuel that's chemically identical to petroleum diesel, lubricate machinery, clean tires”).
We said olive oil or butter only, but everything they do is premade in soybean oil mix (basically poison). The best they could offer us was spaghetti with butter, to which we asked for him to literally put anything in, mushrooms/ lemon/ anything. Even tried ordering the fish, which should be fresh? Nope - Premixed with this cheap oil blend. Everything is apparently. Even their pomodoro or their “light lemon and wine pasta." It’s premade sauces.
They serve us noodles and butter. The worst part is the chef didnt even make some kind of substitute (I know their kitchen has cheese and pepper you could’ve just done that or thrown an egg on top like their other dishes). Or put a lemon on it or veggies. Zero effort. And this was at 9:15 p.m. when the restaurant was quieter. It was almost like a joke that that was sent out versus coming to talk to us.
Anyway, no quality Italian does cheap oils, but not giving them the star for that, but how they handled it. We eat all around the world and have never been not accommodated. You would think a high-end Italian restaurant would have pure olive oil and not fake blends, but nope. Anyways, beware.
EDITED: Pls see photo for alternatives offered....
