The Green Owl Pizza — Restaurant in Lake Delton

After reading the reviews and seeing the pictures of the establishment online we thought we would give the Green Owl a try. First thing that confused me when I walked in was the interior, it didn't look like the photos online. After looking closer I realized that pictures that come up first on Google were from 2014. This bar has aged and could use a refresher, boxes are piled in the old waitress station, extension cords hang from the ceiling, the mirrors on the walls were filthy and the paint was just dirty.

That said, the gentleman who was working the bar and serving tables was excellent. I was impressed he handled multiple tables, was very friendly and still had time to manage the bar. This bandana wearing man was the high point of our visit.

As for the food, it was okay could have been better, the cheese curds were standard fair so when my dining partner said Culver's were better I couldn't disagree.

We also ordered the pulled pork sandwich and a pizza. When our food arrived we could tell what happen from our experience in the food service industry. Someone made the sandwich before the pizza was done and it sat. The bun was soaked through making it a mess, the pork and fries were lukewarm at best. If this same sandwich was served fresh and hot it's a 4 out of 5 stars, today it was a 3. Same goes for the fries when served just warm they were still good hot they would have been great.

On to the pizza, The good: the sausage was good, the crust was crispy through out and the sauce was excellent. The bad: the cheese was the only miss for me, it just seemed off, kind of tough and chewy but still acceptable for bar food. I think the term lukewarm best describes our visit to...

Atmosphere is wonderful !!! We sat outside right by the lake. It was NOT busy at all. There were 4 tables total (including us). Took 1 hour 30 mins from the time we sat until we got our pizza. We did not see our waiter for 50 min after ordering, I walked inside and there were 3 people in the restaurant the waiter looked at me and said “oh sorry, I can see it is ready. I will be out”. I went back to the the table and in 9 min he came out with our pizza. No plates, napkins or silverware. We must have looked confused because he asked us if we needed anything, and we said, plates, napkins and pepper. He said ok and walked away. We sat for another 8 min. I finally walked back inside. No staff were anywhere and there were 3 people in the inside sitting. The waiter came around the corner and said oh is something wrong. I said yes we are still waiting for plates etc. he said ok and went behind the bar and started cleaning water pitchers. I walked into the kitchen and took plates. 5 min later he came out with napkins, silverware and water. He said he was sorry for the wait but he was very busy with online orders. The pizza was ok. It was Luke warm, which made us think it had sat under a heat lamp for a while.

We loved the Green Owl in its previous location. But don’t think we will be back and won’t...

I called at 920pm to get a delivery order and was told by the guy answering the phone they didn't deliver after 10pm. When I informed him it was in fact 9:20pm he told me his watch was wrong??? Ok so no biggie I made the order and then got told that the delivery service only applies to anyone within a 3 mile radius and since I was at a motel 3.6 miles away they could not deliver. Ok so I will pick it up then the guy said it was a $25 minimum order so I added cheese sticks to make it over $25. As if that wasn't enough then he told me that what was on Google for the address was incorrect to go to something else and walk around to find it from there. I am from of state and have no idea where to go and I couldn't get an address from he guy on the phone I just told him to cancel the order. It was obvious this place didn't want to sell pizza or at least the guy on the phone didn't want to so after I said to just cancel the order he simply hung up me. Obviously I wanted pizza more than this guy wanted to do anything. So I went thru all the excuses and then got hung up on. I hope anyone from this area has other pizza options otherwise please get the cheapest frozen box pizza from the worst grocery store. It will be much better than the service from these people! I feel sorry for the locals...
