TLDR: Would not cancel my reservation for a known emergency and screened my calls/emails when I tried to contact them.
Worst hotel I've never been to. I would give 0 stars if I could.
My husband and I were affected by the Yakima wild fires (do a quick Google search and you will find it). We were forced to evacuate and unable to make our reservation at this hotel. We called the hotel approximately 24 hours prior explaining our situation to the receptionist. She said she would speak to the manager and give us a call back.
I waited by the phone for several hours before we were notified of a $400 charge to our account. We quickly called the hotel.
I spoke to one of the managers (the wife) who was very rude. I explained to her that we could not predict this emergency and are asking for basic human decency to provide a refund, especially since we were never contacted back. She refused to listen to any sort of reason and eventually hung up the phone. I called back, furious, that she had hung up on me and requested for the refund again. She exclaimed that I "should have bought insurance" and made it sound like it was my fault that I had an emergency happen to me. I exclaimed multiple times that I would have canceled as soon as possible but I could not predict this emergency. She had no sympathy and remained silent. I demanded a response until she eventually handed the phone to her husband.
He was very kind and asked for proof via email. I provided a news link to the wild fires which he responded to saying he would "get to it when he gets back to his desk". I requested a response within the hour but he did not respond. After about 1.5 hours I attempted to call the hotel but all my calls went directly to voicemail.
I understand small business is difficult, especially post covid, but that shouldn't affect basic human decency for unforeseen emergencies. I will NEVER give this couple any business and I will ensure that none of our active duty Navy friends give them any patronage due to the disrespect and lack of human decency we were given.
DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS! They are heartless and only care about taking your money. They do not care about active duty military or anyone for...
Read moreThis is a bit long but well deserved for being so above and beyond. First, thank you to Martin the hotel owner. We were not able to get to Leavenworth the first day we were booked because of a blizzard blowing over the pass which closed just before we were able to cross. Martin actually contacted us and kept in contact with us responding immediately to our texts while we were braving the elements, and helped us with straightening out our booking issues right there on the spot. From beginning to end the desk attendant was so genuinely friendly and thoroughly accomodating. She was fully dressed in old world Bavarian attire, that was great. She immediately treated us like friends. And we were pleasantly surprised when she personally showed us to our room and gave us a tour of it, explaining its workings(which included heated bathroom floors!) and asking us if we had any questions about anything or if we needed anything. We really appreciated such personal attentiveness upon arriving. When I was booking, they had the only room in town that included a king size bed and balcony for the price point. And our room was beautiful. Our balcony faced the Festhalle bell tower and we listened to its full song from our balcony over hot cider provided in the hotel lobby. So beautiful around Christmas time. And surprisingly we couldn't hear and weren't bothered by the bell inside the room whatsoever. And the hotel furnishings - the decor isn't just decor, it's literally imported Bavaria, and with rich and interesting culture and history. Pension Anna is in a league of its own when it comes to this. They are set apart in so many ways. We will definitely...
Read moreWe had the most wonderful experience at the Pension Anna! The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas and looked like it was out of a storybook. The Alpbachtal room was very clean and inviting. We spent every night in the cozy corner nook by the entrance, eating, reading, and watching TV. The bedroom was spacious, with a comfortable and warm bed facing a second TV. We loved getting to watch the snow fall from the big windows by the nook and in the bedroom. We especially appreciated the heated bathroom tiles after long days in the cold! Breakfasts in the morning took place in the charming dining area - there was such a wide spread of food, and the attentive staff took our egg orders every morning and checked on us throughout breakfast to make sure we had enough tea or coffee. Thank you to Donna for taking such good care of us throughout our stay; she was incredibly personable and helpful and made us feel like family. She gave us so many restaurant recommendations, let us borrow two pairs of snowshoes and a sled one morning, and even went out of her way to drive us to the bus stop! When heavy snow hit the day we were supposed to leave and cancelled both the bus and train, Donna immediately called to let us know that Erika, the owner, wanted to assure us that we could extend our stay at the Pension Anna and had very graciously offered us a discounted rate for the night. We are so grateful for the staff and for the incredible experience at this hotel. We cannot wait to stay at the Pension Anna...
