With the abundance of winery tasting places in Leavenworth, I only went to two tasting rooms and bought a Bergdorf Cellars Gluhwein (spiced wine) pouch that holds two bottles. I liked the variety of flavors in the Gluhwein and that checked suitcase-friendly nature of the two bottle pouch with a spout, so it does not have to be drunk quickly.
I liked that the $20 wine tasting included a large number of red and white wines including some Reserves. The lady doing the wine pours graciously came outside to serve my tastings at the table. She offered some crackers and a cocoa covered nut as wine palate cleansers and enhancers which was a nice touch.

My husband is super picky and we have have a hard time coming to meet on any. He loved some of the wines he tried and even bought his own bottles. The girls were friendly and knowledgeable as well. Read moreFinally got my first taste of gluhwein!!!! I’m now a huge fan. My only way to put it into words is that it was very comforting when drinking it. The warmth of the wine hits your throat and the warmth from the alcohol hits your tummy. The spices are a perfect blend in this wine for sure.
