Let me start off by saying that if there was not a global pandemic, Post Hotel would be getting 4.5 stars. However, since we are in the midst of a global pandemic, I am rating 3 star due to this hotel's very poor covid protections.
I will absolutely not be returning during the pandemic -- however I look forward to visiting again once the world is a bit more normal.
Note: I knew going into this experience that masks are not required in the spa area. That being said, after experiencing it, I think the hotel needs to seriously consider their policies for everyone's safety.
The hotel experience: Summary: PostHotel makes you feel like you are European royalty in a chalet somewhere in the Alps.
Post Hotel is an absolutely gorgeous hotel nestled in a quiet area just off the main downtown streets of Leavenworth. It backs up against the river and riverside park with views of the Cascade mountains. The construction and design inside and out is phenomenal. The rooms are well decorated and allow you to feel homey while also touched by luxury. The king sized beds are extremely soft and comfortable.
The spa experience: Summary: Great spa, don't go if you are at all worried about covid. The spa at posthotel is an amazing and beautiful design. There is an indoor outdoor heated pool which is heated to a perfect temperature. There are many unique treatments - including two cold plunges. I highly recommend you try a hot sauna followed by a cold plunge. Also don't overlook the Grotto sauna. Masks are not required in any spa area. And no one wears them, either in the seating area or in the treatment rooms. We worked hard to wear our masks anytime we were not in a steam room or anytime we were not alone and in all common areas. Staff in the spa wear a weird plastic covering over their face which looks like it would fail to protect them or others. It would go a long way in reducing risk if masks were required when people are just lounging on the couches by the pool. I do not understand how this establishment is legally allowed to operate at the risk level they are currently operating at
The service: Summary: The service at PostHotel is just weird.
For what you are paying for, you would expect a much higher level of service. To start, when my sister and I (both late twenties) checked in, the front desk person asked for our ids (fine) but asked in the weirdest way. He said "I have to ask you an offensive question...you look a little young... Can I see your Ids?" This is a semi acceptable question as we are checking into a hotel designed for 18+ adults. However, this question could have been handled with much more grace. Just ask for our ids. Don't make it weird. This same individual also failed to notice that my sister was a returning guest, her 4th time in a little over a year. They have no concept of customer loyalty. A simple comment like "welcome back" would be appreciated when customers are investing a lot to come back. All the staff at the hotel seemed casual and unsure. I would appreciate a higher level of eloquence and professionalism at this type of establishment.
The food: Summary: Order wisely. Also order as many items as you want, cause its all included.
As you can see from my photos, the included breakfast was fabulous. You could choose from a small menu of made to order items. You could choose as many as you wanted. I got the egg plate and the lieg waffles. Both were made with care and tasted of high quality ingredients.
Lunch is also included at this hotel. Again, you can choose from a small menu as many items as you would like. I chose the German plate which contained a pretzel, bratwurst, fondue dip, sauerkraut and another dip. The pretzel was nothing to write home about - it was certainly not on authentic pretzel. The bratwurst arrived having been steamed, not grilled. The inside was still cold. Needless to say, I took one bite and did not eat anything more. My sister got a kale based salmon salad, which she enjoyed and said was good quality -- so in this case it may have been an issue of the...
Read moreMy husband surprised me with a weekend getaway at Posthotel for our 8th wedding anniversary. Such an easy, beautiful drive from Seattle. The hotel is one block away from the main tourist road in Leavenworth and right on the river. There are beautiful views of the mountains and river from anywhere in the hotel.
The hotel has a locked entry to ensure that only hotel guests are welcome on the property. They will buzz you in the check in and you can use your room key to enter and exit the hotel. They also have a free parking garage to safely tuck your vehicle away during your stay. The first thing you notice when you walk into the doors is how amazing it smells throughout the entire hotel. They have some of the biggest candles I've ever seen!
The pool, hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, foot baths, nap room, cooling room and cold plunges are alone worth the stay! They are very clean and the staff does an excellent job of keeping the area straightened up, clear of puddles and there are always fresh towels available. For those warm, sunny days, they have complimentary sunscreen, after sun gel and lotion by the pool. They also offer limited drinks for purchase, though it wasn't clear to us where you place your order. With all the different relaxation options, it can be a bit daunting of where to start. But they even have that covered! They have little guides on recommended room orders and length of time for detox, relaxation and sore muscles rotations. They even have a guide specifically for your feet for the foot baths. They have 2 showers, one that allows you to choose your experience! They also have fresh ice made so that you can cool down and rub them along your sore muscles. It was very relaxing in the pool area partly because it is a quiet zone! They also have fresh iced water and tea available in the pool area.
They also have off-property activities available during your stay. You can borrow bike cruisers to check out the town or you can borrow putt putt golf clubs/balls and check out the natural grass putt putt golf course that is less than a 5 minute walk along the river. We enjoyed playing putt putt and were surprised to also see the resident goats checking everything out while we played.
They offer complimentary breakfast, lunch and evening dessert (this was a lovely surprise we stumbled upon). They do have light, snack-like dinner options for purchase. They do not deliver to your room so you have to go to the dining area to pick it up. Breakfast and lunch include very impressive and healthy buffet options along with entree dishes you can order. Quite frankly, you can have a filling, nutritious meal from just the buffet if you wanted. One thing that wasn't totally clear when we went to our first meal is that you need to wait to be seated. There are 2 entry points to the dining room and only the one closest to the reception has a sign about this. So we were a little clueless about our first meal, but quickly caught on.
And there is still more! They have a boutique where you can buy the amazing candles they have throughout the hotel and jewelry, body care, weaved bags, blankets, stickers, the plates, napkins, and serving ware used in the dining room. They also have very small offerings of OTC medicine.
We added a 90 minute relaxation couple's massage to our stay. The staff was very kind and welcoming. They have a lovely waiting area with comfy chaise lounges that overlook the river and mountains. I bet in the cooler months, the indoor/outdoor fireplace in the waiting area is cozy (Picture attached). The staff also was gracious enough to refill our water bottles while we waited. 10/10 recommend getting a massage during your visit!
P.S. wear your robe and slippers anytime you leave your room. Makes your stay feel that much...
Read moreThere is not much that can be said about the Post Hotel’s luxuries that hasn’t already been said. We have been there twice, each time spending 4-5 days and we are scheduled to go again in September. The facilities are amazing and luxurious. I really can’t add more than what’s already been said.
What I would like to call out is the amazing staff, especially some superstars, which often get glossed over with comments like “great staff” but in reality, they deserve much more praise. By any standard around the world, the staff is 5 out of 5-stars. My wife and I were always greeted with smiles and prompt service. When we needed something, they took care of our needs with the highest level of customer service. They set a very high bar that other hotels in Leavenworth keep an eye on, as they should. That said, we found several superstars that were “6 out of 5-stars” and one that exemplifies the best-of-the-best, and a true model for the best customer serviceperson any hotel can ask for.
What made these superstars stand out was 1) those that were there during our first stay remembered my wife and I from our first visit (one year prior). When we walked in, they saw us and waved. They took the time to know us the first time and made our second visit feel like we were extremely special. I have never been to a hotel where they remembered us and called us by name. They really made the effort to know who we were personally and treated us like friends, and not like we were simply a customer. It was like the old TV show Cheers, “where everybody knows your name”. 2) They execute customer service perfectly. Not one flaw. They bring perfection to the art of customer service, and it shows.
At the top of our superstar list and the best-of-the best is Edgar, who is works in the dining room. He is truly the “7 out of 5-star” customer serviceperson and the perfect example of customer service all hotels should strive for. He remembered us from the prior year like only a few days had gone by. He starts our day off with breakfast and a selection of special coffees that he personally makes and works hard to perfect. His coffee is superior to any coffee shop and his warm smile and personality starts your day off great. He really makes knowing his guests his top priority and he makes each person feel special. He has quite the reputation around town as a great guy and the best customer service person. My wife and I like to call him “the face of the Post Hotel”. He truly is a treasure.
All the dining room staff were great. Two that also took the time to know us and make sure our day was perfect were Corey and Chelsey. They always took that extra step to assure we were enjoying ourselves and treated us like friends and family. Their wonderful personalities and service resonated with us, and they always made us feel special.
At the poolside, all of the staff were incredible, and they work hard to assure a very tidy and visually appealing atmosphere. Juan, Brian, Daisy and Marc were a huge part of our week. They always greeted us warmly and talked to us about our stay. Any need we had, they were there to accommodate seamlessly, and they made each day very personal.
By the end of each stay, I felt as though we were saying goodbye to friends, not staff. Again, all the staff was amazing but it’s the ones that made our “superstar” list that make it more memorable and perfect than anything else. My suggestion to all that stay, get to know these incredible people. They are wonderful and they really know how to make your visit perfect. I look forward to September and seeing our Post Hotel friends again. They are the true value of the Post Hotel and one of our biggest reasons for my wife and I...
