We came here for breakfast after reading so many very positive reviews, very excited to try such a high rated restaurant. When we arrived, they seated us in this back "patio" which was basically a back alley that they were in the middle of transforming into a seating area. It wasn't very clean, we were there alone next to the garbage cans but whatever, they were sort of busy and we just wanted to eat. Also the tables hadn't been cleaned and had food on them. But then the waitress brought some glasses and water, and when we began pouring the water, we noticed that these hadn't been washed, there were lipstick marks on the rims, food stuck to the sides, just gross. So when she came back, we politely asked to switch them out explaining how they were dirty. However, she picked them up, gave a sheepish "whatever" look but didnt say anything. Couldn't even give a simple "oh so sorry about that, let me get some fresh glasses for you." Then she followed up with "Are you ready to order?" which we were about to say yes, but after waiting for half a beat she turned around and said "looks like you need another minute," all with this rude attitude that was completely unprovoked. And we understand that maybe she could have been having a bad day, but this was just ridiculous and crossed the line. From the minute we stepped into the restaurant we felt unwanted, which has never really happened before. We love eating out, we do our best to be respectful to all the staff, some of my favorite conversations have been with restaurant workers we've met over the years. This was just a terrible experience we had with the staff here. After all this, we got up to leave, expressing our feelings to the waitress who simply replied with a smug reaction and said "what do you want me to do, get on my knees and beg?" The whole interaction was horrible, I'm sure the food is amazing but after everything that happened, there was nothing in us that wanted to stay. After seeing how dirty the dishes were, who knows how clean the kitchen is or how sanitary their prep area is. We just couldn't trust the cleanliness of the restaurant after that, especially after being disrespected by the staff. I hope the rest of the staff is more respectful than this, which I'm sure they are, just this particular lady was either having a bad day or shouldn't be...
Read moreWith the name of "Bear Bear" – I was half-expecting a grizzly chef flipping pancakes in the kitchen. No bears, just great food!
It's a charming little restaurant that offers both indoor and outdoor seating. We opted for the front patio, where we savored the delightful combination of waffles and chicken. The chicken was cooked to perfection, and we couldn't get enough of it. We also tried the 5-spiced salmon latkes, which were a unique and flavorful choice. Not spicy at all!
The ordering process was straightforward - just head up the steps, place your order inside, and then find a comfortable spot to enjoy your meal. If you prefer more outdoor seating, there's additional seating around the corner of the building.
The service was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall pleasant experience. Plus, it's always a relief to find clean and well-maintained bathrooms in a restaurant. The only thing that I was not impressed by was the coffee, was hoping for something a little better being so close to Seattle, but no complaints!
One of the highlights of this brunch spot is the view of the mountains, which adds a touch of natural beauty to kick off your day in Leavenworth. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit if you're in the mood for a delicious and...
Read moreTruly excellent breakfast! We walked in on a Sunday, my visiting parents picked it out off of Maps. We were sat right away, service was prompt and very friendly. We got to ask one of the staff their opinion on the menu and they explained their top 4 menu options and showed us that they were such a true believer they had the restaurant logo tattooed on their shoulder!
My mother got the Grits and Greens and the cold brew, my father had the Bread Pudding French Toast also with cold brew, and I had the Shakshuka-ish with the Polar Bear, cold brew with a little kick. We also had a side order of the Latke. We all absolutely cleaned our plates, not just cleaned but polished, the food was absolutely incredible! The best Shakshuka I've ever had, I'd say they could get rid of the -ish if it wasn't for the fact its indicating that it's a little more than your traditional Shakshuka, I wish all Shakshuka could be this flavorful and filling though. The latkes were equally amazing and the creme fraiche it was served with was a little tart and a little savory without overwhelming the great flavors of the potato and the seasoning in the pancake itself.
This is really a must for anyone in Leavenworth, do NOT leave without having one meal...
