Google Venice — Local services in Los Angeles

Good morning to the public & Google, My experience with Google was not what I thought it would be. Im a local business here in Los Angels, California. I have been in business since the early year of 2014. I own a licensed & insured handyman business that has done very well for itself and that is due to all the hard work it took to build that quality reputation that I have. I’m disappointed due to the hour & a half I spent sharing information and listening to what they would think would be the best way to advertise my business , I had given my point of view of why at this time during this pandemic would not be a good time to start advertising because of the hardship that people are having would not be a good start. I say this because of having to hire employees and then taking the gamble of the second wave I would not be able to honor my employees without having to lay them off due to we’re not having a stable ground . I respect my incoming calls by answering them and listening to what the public and commercial people who takes the time call me to ask me something or to let me know what cool things that I may not be possibly aware of. I had called them back as I had promised so we could discuss what would be good for me so we could stay connected so when the time would arise I could reach them to get started to only find out that Ally Green who sells advertising for google didn’t want to hear the word no and then hung up on me and of course thinking maybe we had just maybe lost connection , to later finding out that I was correct , that Ally Green did not have the time of day for me. I’m just gonna Stay with the word of mouth reputation that I have cause the corporate way isn’t...

Now I know why Yelp even with its own short comings is the premier website for reviewing businesses, notable sites, etc. Their system of uploading reviews, photos and revisIng them are, for the most part, so much more convenient.

I tried to add a comment on my photo on google maps days after uploading it, but couldn't find a way to do so since the photo had no edit window.

I got up to 8 star level, but suddenly had the 8 star designation disappear even though I received a very recent congratulatory email that I had a new personal record on 12 likes of my reviews which have now gone down to 4 as noted on my summary page, although lookIng at the individual reviews, I actually had 13 likes.

Total views of my reviews keep getting reset back to zero. I have 181 reviews, but I'm attributed to having only 33 reviews on my public listing. The only thing that seems accurate is almost 600,000 views of my photos.

Also, Yelp has interactive Community Managers who host occasional Yelp Elite Events to reward those who are good reviewers. So far for google maps contributions, nothing but a few congratulatory emails even after having reached the 8 star level.

There are no warm human touches, no incentives to contributing. It seems google map organizers are too caught up in their own geek world by genes or inclination to be able to navigate human psychology to know how best to maneuver in the realm of personal relationships.

Or are google map contributions totally managed by not so perfect, very artificial...
