My family and I are visiting from South Florida and my daughter needed to use the bathroom badly and after nearly having a heart attack when we both attempted to use the public beach bathroom (florida's beach bathrooms are much better by they way) we walked over to the nearest restaurant. I noticed the sign that the bathrooms were for customers, which is totally legit and I completely understand. I asked the bartender where the bathroom was and explained I was going to by something, wasn't sure what. Seriously at this point I could have bought the menu, u see my daughter needed to take her time in bathroom, if I know what I mean. The bartender pointed out where it was and didn't seem concerned if I bought anything. After we were done I sat at bar to honor my word. I don't drink and my family was waiting for us at the board walk so we didn't have much time, but I noticed they had organic coffee, perfect. I ordered a latte from the bartender who had his hands full, and by they way looked like a Hemsworth brother, my 10 year old concurred. When he handed me my coffee I had my card ready. He smiled and waved with his hands not to worry it was on the house. At this point I was so touched and looked at him like really??? He then blew kisses and moved on to his next customer and my daughter and I were on our way. Simple acts of kindness can touch the heart in such remarkable ways! I am so happy I walked in this place and wish this bartender great things in his life. The drinks coming out looked fabulous and the food looked yummy. This place was efficient and fast...I sat and observed as I was waiting for my coffee. I am leaving LA today, but regret not having the time to stop by again and eat. I recommend for anyone to go bc if the staff is kind and warm, which is above and beyond just friendly. The place must be packed in a Monday...
Read moreThe way this restaurant deals with contaminated/inedible food is shameful. Halfway through my chicken sandwich, I noticed these weird, wiry hairs. Called our waitress over and she immediately tried to explain it away, doubting it was hair. She took it back to ask the kitchen, and they said it was probably bristles from a basting/grill brush. Brush bristles are still not food. I was not offered a replacement dish or any sort of comp or discount for the hair/bristles found on my food. Nothing but an apology (from the waitress nonetheless - it isn't even her fault). Making your customers pay full price for a contaminated meal is disgusting, dishonest and quite frankly, dangerous practice. I really do not care about your organic & free range food when it's sprinkled with inedible material, much less paying $15+ for half of a hairy chicken sandwich.
There were other red flags that should have clued us in, in hindsight. Seating protocol is unclear. We were ignored for 10 minutes before being gestured to a corner, next to a speaker blasting music so loud that the waitress couldn't hear our orders unless we were yelling in her ear (real covid-safe!). Also, customers should not have to ask for water. You're a beachfront restaurant and should expect that your customers are coming in thirsty.
And my boyfriend's vegan patty was overcooked. Looking at the other reviews this appears to be a...
Read moreSelection of beers is quite simply awe-inspiring. If, like me, you're sick of LA bars who have a standard selection of nationally-branded taps imposed on them by a huge distributor, this place is a real find. Constantly rotating selection of craft brew alongside a series of carefully selected stand-bys means you can always find something you're in the mood for (unless that mood is Annheiser-Busch). Food is largely organic and high quality, California-style with various ethnic influences. People behind the bar are generally pretty damn friendly and quick on the service. The whole place has a real unique, individual vibe to it. If you're into exploring new places, you should get down there quick. I live upstairs and use this place almost like my personal kitchen and have been going a few times a week since I moved here in November '11, but since then the place has only grown more popular. There are now weeknights where you can't find a seat! If it's a weekend without rain, you're going to have to fight for table space. Go now and discover why this place isn't staying secret for...
