Great Turtle Toys — Local services in Mackinac Island

I love this toy store and every time I go in the employees are always super nice, show you how the toys work, and are very engaging. I work on the island so I come here a lot. Last night I went in with some friends who also go there all the time but I didn't recognize the lady working that day. I didn't catch her name but she was few years more matured than the people who I usually see working there. At first when she was showing us how a toy worked she was being rude to specifically me. I thought she was just being funny but as I was checking out she continued to make strange belittling comments. When I was done paying I stepped back and accidentally ran into someone. After saying sorry and turning around to put my stuff in my bag the cashier started to comment to the next person in line how rude and inconsiderate I was. I turned around and said "I couldn't see her, I said sorry, I wouldn'tdo that on purpose." She continued to call me rude. I don't know what I did, I love coming here but I don't want to run into her again. It just really bothered me, and I just wrote this so I'd stop thinking about it. Otherwise this toy store is great and one our favorite places to stop in...

We have been going to Mackinac Island for decades and browsing at all the shops is always a enjoyable part of each stay. Great Turtle Toys has been a great place to find toys for our sons and now grandkids. We stopped by a week ago and got such a sickening shock by seeing a display of 20 different models of wooden toy rubber band guns- each a different labeled model of an assault weapon. Assault weapons are designed for one purpose only.... and sport has nothing to do with it. My husband said one was the exact shape & model number that was used at Sandy Hook Elementary School. I can't comprehend the reasoning for this store to promote the 'play' of such items that have caused such agony and heartache for so many families and...

Cannot say enough positive things about Great Turtle Toys! The owner is a wonderful person and you can tell really cares about her customers. We stopped in to get Rubik’s cubes for my kids for their ride home which she had.

After we paid, she asked we wait a minute and then brought back our bag saying she put a surprise in there for the kids. When we got in the car, we opened the bag to see she gave both of them Mackinac Island Rubik’s cubes. It was such a sweet gesture and brought such a smile to their faces.
