I’ll start out by saying I travel ALOT, and love the nice boutique hotels. Last stay in Nashville was at the grand Hyatt, which was incredible and had a great location, but this time I was drawn to the Fraye for their boutique hotel look and vibe as well as the pool area looked gorgeous.
Gorgeous hotel, kinda ends there.
Check in:out - kinda rude to be honest. You can sit back and watch their personalities be different with whomever is checking in. Room - very nice room. Pool view. One light burnt out in bathroom so very dark, the shower faucet fell right off the wall. We only got cleaning service 2 out of the 3 full days, asked for towels then and they said would send up. Never did. Conditioner was empty by day 2 but I brought my own so switched to that.
Room keys - our first 2 nights we had to get the keys re made 7 times. Either didn’t work in the elevator to let us up, or when you got to room wouldn’t open door. Super annoying. Breakfast - says 7-2pm daily. Came down at 11 on Wednesday and restaurant closed. So we came down 1030 to eat breakfast Thursday and what a brutal experience. A nice lady as the server BUT they all spent more time talking with the other staff or on their phones doing nothing than paying attention to their guests (5 staff). There was only one other table eating and it still took forever. ordered 2 meals and an iced coffee she recommended. 20 minutes later no coffee. Meals came, terrible. English muffin not even ran through a toaster and 8 small pieces of hashbrowns (I counted) that were so cold and shriveled it was evident left from morning breakfast. Finally asked for our bill, 15 minutes later it still hadn’t came so went to server to get it and had to ask them to remove coffee from the bill as we never got it. She was like you never got it??? Lol, a lady in the lobby overheard and said they forgot hers too. Would never eat here again, left hotel for all meals.
Worth noting during end of breakfast while waiting for bill around 1130 it was evident the general manager was having a meeting with someone corporate, maybe in from out of town in the quiet back corner. 5 mins prior to him entering all of a sudden staff started acting professional, rushing around to the one table that was left, joking and laughing with them. I almost went up to let the general manager know how the service actually was for the guests, but what’s the point of embarrassing someone.
Misc: Happy hour was also not applied to our bill two days in a row at pool even though they advertise 25% off food and drink specials.
Great looking hotel that could be awesome if staff actually cared about all guests and paid attention. When you only have 2 tables you should be able to notice that the coffee you recommended is missing on the table and that they didn’t eat half their food and completely left the English muffin on the plate and ate the inside part of it only (was a breakfast sandwhich!!)
When we checked out the lady asked how the stay was. I said it was OK, she just smiled and said you’re all set. No follow up questions when someone says it was OK….which is universal for not great.
Will definitely stay at another hotel on my...
Read moreJust came back from a four night stay at the Fraye, a first time for us. Definite plusses and minuses, but sadly, the service in many areas missed the mark which soured our visit.
I’ll start with the pros… We actually enjoyed the location being further removed from the hustle and bustle of Broadway and with Lyft rides so easy and affordable, I’d definitely stay in this neighborhood again. The hotel itself seemed pretty new. The finishes weren’t as beat up as you’d expect at a popular hotel. Only very weird thing was the ceiling in our bedroom was completely unfinished and unsightly (despite the bathroom and hallway ceiling being finished with paint and drywall). The 7th floor pool area was very nice. The pool was heated but since it was only highs in the low 70s when we were there we found it a little too chilly to swim despite sucking it up and trying it one day…but the bar and surrounding lounge area was well maintained and comfortable.
On to the cons… In general, we found the service at the hotel to be lacking in many areas. To start, when we checked in, despite having Hilton Diamond status, the staff member failed to recognize that and detail what our benefits were. When I was forced to ask, I was initially told I would receive a $15 credit towards food and beverages despite having booked the room as having two adults and my partner standing right next to me. I inquired further and only then did she say it could be upped to $30/day. She also failed to explain all the amenities of the hotel including the fancy gym and pool on the 7th floor. Would we have explored and found these on our own, yes, but again seemed strange to not highlight those at check-in. The bartenders in the lobby bar also seemed incredibly unenthused and unfortunately one night our cocktails were completely forgotten. We inquired after about 15 minutes. She did apologize and made them right away but after our check-in experience earlier, it felt like the icing on the cake. On another evening, as we were walking out to dinner, we asked the front desk if we could have a couple bottles of water dropped in our room as we had forgone housekeeping that day. Gave our room number and was reassured they’d be delivered, only to find they never arrived. In another instance we came down to the lobby bar during happy hour and oddly weren’t offered that menu (instead just the main menu for food and drinks). Yet again, we had to inquire and only then were provided it. It felt like a total lack of transparency and left a bad taste in our mouths.
These may all seem like petty grievances, but when you’re the highest status level of a hotel’s rewards program you expect better service and attention to detail. This isn’t to say that all staff were lacking - we did have some nice interactions with some, but in general, this Hilton needs...
Read moreMy original review was a few days ago while still at the hotel. This is after my stay was completed and this is my reply to David Norman, General Manager. You stated to ask the front desk for housekeeping services. First and foremost, the point is that my room was not cleaned at all, though I left the room before 1:00, and I should not have to ask. When I returned later I asked the front desk 4 or 5 times and still no one came to clean the room, nor did we have towels, etc. Over the last few days of my stay housekeeping failed to leave washcloths, they did not leave us any coffee, and the last 3 days they did not give us water (we have a Hilton Honors account). Over 90% of my reviews are positive for hotels, events, restaurants, etc. It is rare that I'm so dissatisfied that I leave a negative review, but this Hilton and the staff does not meet the standards of any Hilton or any hotel I've ever stayed in. I would never return to this one.
My original review: The hotel is very nice. It's a little over a mile to the downtown area, and very walkable. Taxis and Ubers are always available if needed. The negatives about the hotel are these. The room is extremely dark. There are several lights and lamps, but they give off virtually no illumination. The shower floor is slippery. The other complaint is one day our room wasn't made up; bed unmade, no new towels, nothing. I called several times and went to the front desk. I was told that they bypassed my room because the do not disturb was on and they do not return. The do not disturb was removed before 1:00, and the cleaning carts were still on my floor and next to my room. I was told, in effect, if they are ready to do my room because it's next on their list and they can't enter, then they will not return. I've stayed at dozens of Hiltons and other hotels for many, many years and this is the first time I've ever heard this.
Hotel reply: Dear Brian Fellner, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We truly appreciate your kind words about our wonderful staff and our central location. We understand that everyone has different comfort levels regarding room cleaning and privacy. That's why we now offer housekeeping services upon request—simply reach out to the front desk whenever you need room cleaning or extra towels. Your feedback means a lot to us, and we genuinely hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for another stay. Sincerely, David...
