This review has multiple parts
Part 1 On June 17 I made a purchase at open road VW Manhattan. This is a purchase I have since then regretted many times To purchase the car the finance manager told me I needed a hefty down payment to qualify for the loan. Despite my hesitations, I provided open road VW Manhattan with the requested deposit. As soon as the deal was done, things went further downhill. They informed me the car wasn’t ready for pickup and that they would put me in a loaner. They mentioned that the right front wheel was damaged and that they would change it and deliver the car to me the next day. When I called they mentioned that they didn’t have the appropriate tools to remove the wheel. The service department let me know not to worry and that the part will be there and that they will provide an update. The next day comes and goes, no update from VW open road. I called back the day of to find out the part has still not arrived. I was annoyed and frustrated with this because I would expected this to be done before the car is ready for sale. I was made aware, about 10 days from my purchase date that the tire was changed and ready for safe driving. I went to dealership. The wheel was in fact not changed and no could explain why I was summoned. It was mentioned that a crucial part was still missing I realized as well that the car was missing mats after all this time and a license holder in the front. The manager Andre suggested to me that I take the bmw with the damaged tire. He said that they would let me know when the part came and then I would come back to change the tire. He assured me that if the tire goes flat he would tow it back to the dealership. With that assurance in a written email from Andre, I left. I appreciated fi On my way, the worst scenario happened - the tire popped. This happened at about 5pm. I immediately called Andre to set up the tow. He told me someone would tow in the morning I said ok. In the morning I left the keys in the bmw for the tow. I took the train from my apartment in Rockaway beach New York all the way to the location in Manhattan and walked about 10 blocks to get the dealership to pick a new loaner. Andre tells me later that day that they won’t be able to tow the car today. I wake up the next morning at 7am to deal with tow people. They tow the car and in about 3 days the car is ready. I picked up the car hoping that I would never have to come to the VW open road for a very...
Read moreHaving purchased or leased many cars from many dealerships in my life, I never had such an outstanding experience as in this past week. From test drive to delivery, the intensity and commitment to the customer has never been so crystal clear. Below is a short description of our Friday to Friday experience so that others can understand...
We were in the market for a new car and decided on a VW Tiguan. After visiting a local dealership for test drive and price barometer, we used the internet to find the vehicle matching our criteria. Open Road VW of Bridgewater advertised a vehicle that interested us to start our journey on Friday.
A call to the dealership found it was available but had moved to the Open Road VW of Manhattan showroom. Open Road offered to bring the vehicle to us for review. Our customer journey representative Jeff was here by afternoon with what was to become our new car. His knowledge of the Tiguan was excellent and he answered all questions while we drove around the neightborhood chatting about the car and the NCAA Finals. He was right on that too, with Kansas all the way.
He was ready with a purchase agreement to get the ball rolling and told us he would take care of everything, and he did. He gave us instructions on how to make our down payment, coordinated registration and insurance details with our agent, arranged for our financing, and buttoned up the deal. By the following Friday he had the car detailed, drove it out to our home again and parked it on the driveway.
We signed the deal and he left us with a smile and great cookies from Levain bakery in Manhattan. They were a most delicious pastry, clearly Jeff's way of insuring sweet memories of this experience for us. I recommend Jeff and Open Road VW if you are shopping for a new or used VW. Jeff's knowledge was extensive, his service was incredible, his personality was wonderful, and his Open Road VW...
Read moreThis would have been a 5 star review, but for getting majorly screwed by the salesperson.
We bought an ID.BUZZ, and even agreed to the dealer's markup over sticker price because we could get up to $9500 back in federal and state tax credits. We likely wouldn't have bought it without those rebates.
This was something I had the salesperson confirm because the ID.BUZZ was so new that it wasn't listed anywhere yet (insurance, DMV, etc.). It was also not listed - nor were any 2025 vehicles - on the federal tax credit list of qualifying vehicles, so I asked the salesperson to confirm - you know, I asked the people who would know this info, the dealer. He also asked if we were paying cash or leasing or financing...I told him we planned to pay cash, unless leasing or financing was a requirement for the rebates or other discounts. He said he'd check it out and let us know. He came back with specific info...that we could only get $500 from the state but that would be taken directly off the sale price, and that I'd get the $7500 when I filed my taxes, or up front if we leased.
As I'm doing my taxes I find that there is a document that needed to be filed by the dealer at the time of sale. I asked for that and for some reason, nobody at the dealer knew anything about it. Then he changed his story saying he never confirmed anything - he did, I have it in writing. Also, that the ID.BUZZ doesn't qualify for the federal rebate because it wasn't assembled in the U.S. I have since done more research and find that this is true...now that the info is available (again, it wasn't late last year when we were looking into the purchase).
So...why would he lie/mislead us? Only things I can think of are negligence or intentional misinformation to make a sale. Either way, it's unacceptable.
He got his commission, we got screwed out of $7500 and need to figure out what to do. Absolutely FURIOUS!!
AVOID THIS...
