It was an awful experience to start with. We travel a lot and always with our two pups, and a lot of the time we stay at Motel 6’s all over the country because of their great pet policy. Well, this time we had quite a different experience. Right at the check in we were supplied with a piece of paper stating that we can’t leave our dogs in the room unattended. Ok, we normally take our puppies on different activities with us but there are few where you just can’t have your dogs with you. And mostly these are restaurants and in this particular case - Antelope canyon and a helicopter tour - all expensive tours which we booked long ahead.
In the mean time the woman at the reception who was quite unfriendly gave us a room right next to the entrance door, elevator and ice machine. There is absolutely zero sound isolation in this motel, you can hear every whisper in the hallway. Can you imagine the noise you get every few minutes slamming door, elevator and ice machine. So we checked in and went to get some dinner. We left our dogs in the room (it’s 23 F outside, you just can’t leave them in the car! Summers are super hot there too, so you absolutely cannot have your dogs left in the car in this town any time of the year!).
About 30 min later at the restaurant I received a phone call from the motel woman, she said that our dogs were barking and we need to be back and then she hung up!
We came back in 10 minutes, there were no sounds from our room. People were walking back and force, slamming doors, no sounds. I have this recorded on video.
We went to this woman to talk about the absurdness of the situation but she was lacking any common sense including sense of hospitality. Not to mention that this pet rule was not written anywhere when I booked the place (and we never had any problems with our dogs at many others Motel 6’s). We asked to speak with the manager and she said they will be in tomorrow morning.
That night turned into a nightmare. There were not just paper walls but paper ceilings. Someone in the room above us was dropping heavy objects on the floor the whole night. Well, if I would have been a dog I would bark non-stop. But our dogs are well behaved and they kept silent.
First thing in the morning we went to talk to the manager, but they weren’t there that day. Instead there was another woman at the reception. I explained to her the situation. And you might be wondering why I gave it 4 stars after writing all of this. This is why. She was an amazing person, very friendly, understanding and willing to help and resolve any problems - this is what the staff at hotels should be! She moved us to the third floor away from the doors, elevators and ice makers. And we never had any more problems during our 4 nights stay. We finally could relax and enjoy our trip, had lots of fun and adventures with and without our great puppies who just calmly slept in the room while we were out.
This woman worked at the front desk on December 15th, unfortunately I didn’t remember her name. I truly think management should admit her professionalism and give her a good bonus.
Also I wish the management of this particular Motel 6 would revise their pet policy so it keeps up with common sense and...
Read moreIn short: Frustrating stay at Motel 6.
-The bath tub flooded in our room, soaked our clothing bag and the manager said there was nothing they could do so we left with soaking wet clothes and no compensation. -rude manager (unhelpful staff) -cold room and hallways -uncomfortable bed -no quilt on bed (just a sheet and blanket with a cover) -no fridge/ microwave -both room cards stopped working for no reason -no bell at the front desk and waited a long time for any service
I would recommend not staying at Motel 6 in Page… If something goes wrong you will be the one suffering. Like someone else mentioned “we should have camped” or pay a couple more dollars to stay at one of the 3 hotels in the same parking lot.
The long story: During our one night stay the tub/shower in the bathroom leaked and flooded the bathroom and into our room. It soaked our personal bag and left our clothing soaking wet. I went to the front desk and they said they’d call our room back with what they could do for us... They “forgot to call us back” and we waited an hour before I went back down. The manager told us because we booked through Booking.com there was nothing she could do and to call them. No remorse for us and wouldn’t even consider to dry our wet clothes.
At the same time the maintenance guy came to our room to tell us that the room below us had water dipping through the ceiling and checked out our bathroom. This was a big issue.
So we left with wet clothes and a wasted morning….
Aside from that the bed was not comfortable (as others mentioned the bedding is insufficient). The room was small. The room was cold. It’s cheap and we knew there was no fridge or microwave. No shampoo but luckily they do supply a bar of soap. They could use “Do not disturb” hang tags to avoid knocking on our door at 9am on our one night stay for housekeeping… Both our room cards stopped working and I had to go down to the front desk to get new ones -not a big deal… But there’s no bell at the front desk so I had to wait awhile until someone came.
I know Page is full of tourist come here to see all the touristy things but I really felt like the manager and the employees at this Motel 6 could care less about any human begin (except the maintenance guy he was very nice). How could you let someone leave your establishment without any solution after your facility soaked their clothes at no fault of their own? All I wanted was for them to dry my clothes -They have dryers on site or give me $3 to use the coin machine…
I’m not one to complain about hotels but I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through what we experienced in Page at Motel 6. The manager was quite rude and left the lobby to avoid me when I came back to tell her that Booking, com wanted to speak with her. It really felt like they were just making me go in circles hoping I’d give up.
Spend a couple extra dollars and pick one of the 3 surrounding hotels (they are literally in the same parking lot) and have an enjoyable stay in Page! There’s so many cool things to see...
Read moreWe stayed here recently on a multi-day family road trip. Since we were paying for hotels every night, we were definitely going for the budget option, and while this met the budget, it was about as underwhelming as it gets. ||First off the good - the staff were pretty friendly, the pool (according to one of my kids) was nice, and the room was clean, the bed was okay as well. The bathroom was okay size and had a large shower. The staff will make change for you to use the laundry.||Now on to what was not so good:|1) The room is one of the smallest hotel rooms I've stayed in. The bathroom is okay, but the rooms are tiny and were not great at all for a family of 4. Not really any place to set anything down. And while there were quite a few plugs in the room, several of them were in really weird places (like high up on the wall), so they weren't super useful. The air conditioner was loud when it kicked in and didn't have a constant fan option.|2) The hallways hand some sort of funky "meat" smell - luckily it didn't permeate to the room.|3) The hotel is laid out kinda weird. It didn't affect the stay massively, but the elevators are like halfway back as opposed to towards where you walk in.|4) The dryers aren't great - we should have known better as we ran into this issue at other hotels before but save your money and go to a laundromat instead, or you'll have to run multiple cycles to get everything dry. The one good thing is we met some nice folks while in the laundry area waiting for our clothes.|5) For some reason, awhile after we got there, our key cards quit opening the entrance nearest to us where we were parked. This also affected other guests as we had to open the door for them when they couldn't get in as well. |6) While admittedly we went to bed a little early, the hallways were very noisy just after we laid down with people outside. Also, when your neighbors turn on the shower, you aren't going to sleep through it.||I understand Page is a bit out of the way and pricy overall, but my recommendation now would be to spend a few more...
