Read moreWe have stayed at many Holiday Inns and have always been happy with them but our experience at this hotel was not great. Check in was literally just that with no details shared about times and location for breakfast, location of amenities such as the pool and gym or even the location of the lift and stairs! There is one small lift to serve the whole hotel which is not at all adequate. Our room was lovely and spacious. Extremely comfortable bed, seating area, toiletries in the bathroom and good shower. However the air conditioning unit was extremely noisy as was the fridge and these both impacted on our sleep as it was too noisy with the air conditioning on but too hot without it! I did mention this to the lady on reception who was not empathetic but said she would let maintenance know. He wasn’t able to rectify the problem and kind of said that’s just how it is. Breakfast was a shambles. It is a buffet but there was literally hardly any food when we got there at 7.45am. One lady was topping the odd item up but if you wanted a plate of hot food there was no chance as when there was eggs there was no bacon and vice versa. We made do with a bacon sandwich and even then there was only just enough bread. There was no where to sit so we ate in the reception area. We decided on our 2nd morning to not bother and headed out to Denny’s instead. They do have cookies and drinks available during the day which was a nice touch and welcome after returning to the hotel from the hot Arizona weather. However the positives were not enough to make up for the failings of the stay and we would not...
Read moreThe swimming pool at this hotel is supposed to close at 10:00 PM. There was a loud party making noise until midnight. Management should have closed the pool area. The older woman working the desk during the day is not very friendly. The room keys are too easily deactivated. Every day we had to have at least one key refreshed. In the afternoon they provide lemonade and cookies in the lobby, which is a nice touch.
IHG does not have any standards about guest comfort protocols. There were no clothes hangers. Even if we brought our own there was no bar inside the wardrobe on which to hang clothes. There was no luggage rack. There was no iron. There was no ironing board. There was no towel bar next to the sink. The pillows were so flimsy they were like sleeping on nothing, they did not provide any support at all. The bed sheets were too short; the top of the sheet lacked about 12 inches of even reaching the pillows. The toilet paper holder was mounted under the sink cabinet, almost touching the floor.
The breakfast buffet was great. There was a large selection of items, both hot and cold. A person could eat there for a week and not have the same thing twice. The food was tasty and the fruit was fresh. They had every conceivable condiment to complement the food. The ladies working the breakfast area did a fabulous job. They kept the food stocked and kept the area clean. Providing grab bags for the guests was a nice touch. The only negative is that the TV was tuned to a station that spreads liberal propaganda. It would be more practical to have it tuned to the...
