I'm writing this review with a heavy heart, as I'm still trying to process the utter disappointment that was my experience at New York Teriyaki in Page, AZ. I've been craving authentic Japanese cuisine for weeks, and was thrilled to stumble upon this restaurant in the middle of nowhere. But oh, the disappointment.
First of all, the menu was a joke. I mean, seriously, who names a Japanese restaurant "New York Teriyaki"? It's like they're trying to be something they're not. And don't even get me started on the food. I ordered the ramen, expecting a rich, savory broth and a hearty bowl of noodles. But no. What I got was a bland, watery soup with a few sad noodles floating in it. I mean, seriously, this was not ramen. This was just...soup. With noodles.
And don't even get me started on the flavor. Or lack thereof. I mean, where was the depth? The complexity? The umami? It was just...nothing. I was so looking forward to a delicious, satisfying meal, and instead I got a bland, uninspired mess.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around how a Japanese restaurant could fail so spectacularly. I mean, it's not like they were trying to reinvent the wheel here. Just make some good, authentic Japanese food, and people will be happy. But no. They had to go and ruin it.
Needless to say, I will never be back to New York Teriyaki. What a waste of time and money. If you're looking for real Japanese cuisine, keep driving. This place is a total...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible experience dining here. The servers were too busy to bring our food on time, and the entire service felt rushed and disorganized. The Korean boss was shockingly rude, not only to us but also to his own employees. We didn’t even get water until we specifically asked for it, which should be a basic part of any dining experience.
The seafood Ramen was incredibly disappointing. It only had a few pieces of seafood—just two mussels, one shrimp, and one crab leg—all for the outrageous price of $20.95. Totally not worth it. Even in a city that is famous for expensive living cost, like Boston or New York, $20.95 can definitely get you nine shrimps! To top it all off, they didn’t even bring out our appetizer until after we had already finished our meals.
To make things worse, we weren’t able to pay at our table. Instead, we had to go to the front desk to complete the payment, where we were forced to choose a tip option on a payment terminal. Before I could select anything, it automatically proceeded with a 20% tip by default. When I asked to correct this, the boss responded rudely and even muttered something unpleasant in Korean, which I didn’t understand but could tell was not respectful.
This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had, and I wouldn’t recommend this...
Read moreIf you want burnt food and a looonnggg standing wait (even better if you're pregnant!) then go right ahead. We ordered take out the first week after they opened. We were disappointed that the food was burnt. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and try again. Sadly, things didnt get any better. I called an hour ahead and when I got there, the food was still not ready & the waiting area was crowded (social distancing out the window, a little worrisome when you're pregnant). The owner told me its 10min wait (after calling ahead, the top of the hour). I said okay, no problem. Over 30 min passed after my arrival (after ordering in way advance) and she just tells me they're cooking my food now. Im like what?! Why would you lie to me, have me stand in this crowded area, and my food isn't even ready? I know she clearly sees a pregnant woman standing there for quite some time. The food was overcooked, dry and stale. It was a complete waste of time and money. I would have requested a refund if it were just my order. EPIC FAIL of a restaurant. They didn't serve sushi, and its been 3 weeks since opening. DON'T GO THERE. POOR QUALITY FOOD, POOR SERVICE. Feel sorry for those people who were waiting for 20min behind me, only to be told there is a 40min wait for them to be seated (after frickin...
