What was good: -Rooms were cleaned very well -The room was updated and felt airy -The noise level was relatively low which was great -The breakfast was well stacked and had hot meals as well. Coffee is great and they also have to go cups. -the place has laundry inside the hotel which is secured. -The place also has a well maintained indoor pool and hot tub. The lounge/ breakfast area seemed to be open to families to ‘hang out ‘ /relax after a long day. We did not try this but saw families playing card games and just chatting at the tables during evening hours.
What was not so good any additional toiletries would have to be picked up from the front desk. The room has a sign stating this so just a minor inconvenience. -Service is awful -The front desk was not very courteous- we saw another guest with a map of the town (Page) with all attractions marked up. He mentioned that he got it from the front desk. When we asked the front desk, the person asked us to use Google and said that the hotel does not provide any such map! The next day, we saw another person with the map and this time the person at the front desk pulled out a stack of the maps and handed me one! The stack was right on the top shelf under the reception desk. We are not sure if it’s just plain ignorance or unwillingness to help your guests. -The breakfast server seemed very busy and did not respond well to any questions asked. There was no peanut butter the first morning we ate. I am a vegan and peanut butter is often a savior for breakfast. I asked her if the facility offered peanut butter as part of breakfast. She looked annoyed , made no eye contact and responded with curt ‘no’ and walked away. The next day I carried a small jar of peanut butter with me so I can have it with my bagel. Guess what- there was a whole stash of single serve peanut butter spreads for breakfast :-). Again; this could be ignorance or just no appetite to be nice to your customers.
In conclusion if you don’t care about service (esp if you are a person of color) then this place would be fine for you. For us this matters. Everyone should be treated with respect especially if you treat them...
Read moreThe night clerk wasn't rude but acted like you ruined her day by checking in. Ignored both me and my son when we tried to make small talk to lessen the tension and awkward silence. Wasn't at the desk or anywhere to be found the rest of the night unless you caught her while she was checking someone in. The morning girl Mia wasn't very nice either, I asked for 20 extra minutes so my son could finish his online class without disruption and explained it was very important and she told me she would charge me an extra $25 so I told her we would be out by the checkout time. I understand their policy is $25 for an extra half hour after the checkout time but the maids weren't even close to the room yet and it wouldn't have caused any inconvenience to housekeeping or cause the room to not be ready for the next guest. The hotel still had many rooms available for the night. When I checked out and asked for her name she got defensive and argued with me and said I was assuming what type of person she was when I explained she may want to put herself in someone else's shoes to improve her customer service skills. The breakfast attendant seemed to be making everyone uncomfortable and like they were making her job worse by eating the breakfast. She also started cleaning it up a half hour before it was time and didn't offer help to anyone she seen struggling. And when loading suitcases in the car we went to go out, she was shaking rugs in right in front the door and the wind blew the dirt all over us and she didnt even say she was sorry. She acted like we had created another problem for her by walking outside with our belongings. Our room had a lot of water damage to the bathroom and had a mildewy smell to the bathroom. There was some pink sticky substance on shelves and the counter top and mirror in...
Read moreHotel rooms were updated and clean. Actually, WAY nicer than the Hilton Sedona Resort at Bell Rock that we had stayed at the night before.
The pool and hot tub area had sooo much chlorine in it that we stayed in there for a max of 15 minutes and my eyes burned for hours after.
Breakfast is standard. The hot portion of the meal is not celiac friendly, but we find that on par with the free breakfast offered at a lot of hotels, and doesn’t apply to most people.
The remote to the TV only adjusted volume and would not control the channels.
What infuriated me about this stay was the rooms that we got. We had a sunset tour of Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend, so we knew we were going to be arriving late. When check-in was available the day before arrival, I called the front desk and asked which side of the hotel she’d suggest for the view. She stated that she preferred the back of the hotel, and so that is the side I chose for both my rooms. When we went to pick up the keys, we found out they gave both those rooms away and relocated us. The staff member then lied and said there was a maintenance issue with my original room choice. When I talked to staff the following day, I was told there were no unoccupied rooms on the fourth floor due to maintenance problems. They gave my rooms away. Nice. I guess we should have dropped our bags off before the tours, but then again, why would I have done that... I was checked in.
I do agree with the staff member who said the back of the building has a nicer view. The front has a lot of large power lines included...
