Local here, my family and I won’t be back. Decided to take my kids out for an evening on the beach and thought this would be nice a touch being the kids could eat and play in the pool. Let’s start with first thing we arrive the septic truck was there, was told to come back in 5 mins and we would be able to be set, ok no problem we did. We started out with an appetizer in which we never received, possibly was given to the table next to us. We received our food by a food runner but was missing my husbands meal. 10 mins go by and I finally ask another waitress if she would get our waitress for us. She finally arrives in which I let her know we didn’t receive the app (if that could just be taking off the bill ) and that we are still missing a meal. Also during this time I ordered a drink which took a good min to get to the table, once she arrived back she tells me she gave me a large but only charged me for a small, ok cool. We are finally almost done eating and my husbands meal has yet to arrive, I ask how much longer in which she blames the kitchen and proceeds to tell me she moved the ticked to the front of the line, now I might be wrong but saying you moved a ticket to the front of the line to me means you didn’t ring it in, in the first place. (maybe I’m wrong). So I just ask to take the off and could we get the bill. She lets me know it’s been taking off and a 10% has been applied. Once I receive the bill I look and see the items have been removed but my bill was still $69. I pay and receive my card and bill back that’s when I noticed a 18% gratuity has been added, so I ask why and she said because of tourist. I said ok I live here and most places gratuity isn’t automatically added unless it’s parties of 8 or more. She then informs me it’s actually parties of 6 or more, I said either way it’s only 4 of us. She tells me she can take it off. Then I receive my bill back and have to get my card rerun, when I received the restaurant copy the bottom lets you know a 3% charge is added to credit cards, this copy now has parentheses around that information, to me that seems like your trying to be a smarta*ss since it wasn’t on the first time. Now I know a lot goes into serving that you don’t always see, but customer service is a must, checking on your tables frequently is a must, trying to make it right when you mess up is a must. If those task are to hard or you can’t multi tasks the service industry isn’t for you. Now I have never let a 0 tip, but tonight I did. I felt like I was being taking advantage of when the automatic gratuity was added especially after she admitted it’s on parties of 6 or more. As a local never again with I be back nor will I suggest tourists to...
Read moreHi, so I never ever leave reviews, this is the first, but this cannot go unnoticed. I’ve been coming here (from Missouri) for 5 years. I have been to Barefoot each time. Everything has always been good, but this time (Apr 2024) was absolutely amazing. Our waitress was Amber P. She did the best job I could have ever asked for, especially since I brought others who had never been here before. She served us whatever we wanted/needed and was very attentive to our table from the moment we walked up. She was not annoying as in constantly “bothering” us, but if we ever needed a refill she had one handy. She also recommended the food and everything she recommended had great flavor and was very plentiful. The sad part is, when I return to Missouri I will never get the outstanding service that she showed. She is also super friendly and would join in with us, if it was appropriate. Never too much, actually perfect. I don’t believe I’ve even thought that about others. Each one of us agreed to the same. Taylor was also working and though she did not actually wait on us, she was super friendly, always smiling and if she was ever needed Taylor would have been on it immediately. Again, this establishment is by far, one of the best I’ve been to. It’s just not often anymore to have a waitress (or employee in general) go above and beyond their “duties as assigned”, especially with a group of older (60 on up) individuals. I was very happy and proud to recommend this place to the others and they were all just as pleased. Continue hiring the “Amber’s and Taylor’s” out there along with their professionalism and your business will continue to thrive. I absolutely cannot wait to come back next year and hope they are both still here to continue the high standard of service we enjoyed. (We’ve been back twice since our initial visit). Keep up the great work ladies. Barefoot should be extremely happy to have you on their team. The gang that belongs...
Read moreService here is pretty bad. The service industry should be held to a high standard, especially in a city with a tourist driven economy. Came here twice and Monique was my server both times. Monique is not personable, did not check on us and scoffed when we asked for simple things like napkins, more water, or the correct food we ordered. She has the attitude that she didn’t want to serve us but had to be professional.
The food was good the first time, the second time it fell very short.
When we were finished the second time, we had gratuity automatically added to our pill when we were a party of 4. All of the information I found for this restaurant states gratuity will be auto added for parties of 8 or more. This became an issue when it shouldn’t have been.
When we asked for a manager to see why the gratuity was automatically added, we were confronted by the manager and bartender with hostility and told they can add whatever gratuity they choose in the summer months. We were confronted for being tourists and mocked by being told they don’t know what it’s like where we’re from (surprise, Las Vegas, the hospitality capital of the world) so i think we’d be well versed in a decent service.
I’m here to leave my opinion so others can decide for themselves. Getting bad service and then being told the business can charge whatever gratuity they’d like and having an attitude is ridiculous when we are paying customers. I firmly believe in tipping a minimum 20% for restaurants and bars, but some tips are well deserved given the totality of the circumstances. We will not be returning here. Maybe your experience will be better, but Bare Foot left a sour taste in our mouth and has been hands down our worst experience...
