My husband and I went a couple weeks ago and the food was terrible. We could not have been more disappointed with our food.
Tony's pork chop was dry and not that tasty. The mashed potatoes were really salty. I think it was the gravy. The veggies, some of them were really really mushy. I tried one bite of each of his items and it did not taste fresh at all.
My food... Chicken soup in a breadbowl doesnt make for the best turnout because the liquid from the soup soaks into the bread really fast , making it very soggy. The soup had some veggies and chicken and tasted alright. The bread my soup was in was not good. The top tiny piece was so hard I couldnt even squish it and I didnt dare eat it because it was rock hard. The rest of the bread bowl was pretty dried out and I didnt each much except a bit of the soggy bottom. Sad day because bread bowls I've gotten at other places in the past have been so delicious and I've eaten every single bit.
My salad was farely good, no rotten pieces of lettuce but when I ate the cucumber it tasted so bad that I spit it out in my napkin. Tony tried a bite of salad and said it tasted watered down.
My jello was okay minus at least 5 pieces that had gotten hard on the top. Kind of like a top crust. I'm not sure what it is called or how it happens but its disgusting! I ate the bottom part of the jello and left the dry stuff behind.
Now, I've heard great reviews about the Lion House rolls but was greatly disappointed as our rolls were hard on the outside like they had been sitting out all day. Tony had to peel layers off until he got to anything even remotely soft and worth eating.
All in all it was a bad experience, I'm not sure if it was just the day/time we went (dinner time on a Saturday) or what but we dont plan on...
Read moreFood was pretty good. The key lime pie was delicious. The cafeteria-style service/dining is the reason I'll never return. I waited in line for an hour as I'd been told by several locals that this was something everyone should experience. The line was out the door and half-way down the sidewalk toward the street. I got in line while I contemplated wether I wanted to wait and thought I'd get a feel for how fast the line was going. Through a window I saw two large tables clear out. Seeing that as a favorable turn, I decide to stay and wait it out. After those tables were bussed, they stayed unused. 45 min later I finally make it inside and those same tables are still empty. This is also the point where you'll realize the line doubles back a coupla times in the lobby before you actually get to the service area. And from this part of the line, there's a great view of those same two tables. Empty. While many of us waited an hour just to get to the food.
If you can get in and get your food right away, go for it. I won't say it's a must. The whole experience is really kind of lame. Like I was back in high school lunch period. But there's much better food in...

About a month ago I had turkey pot pie here (turkey pot pie filling poured in a puff pastry shell). I am not exaggerating (much anyway) when I tell you it was so good it changed my life. :D
Today I ate chicken so ordinary I can't remember so as to tell you what it was designated as on the menu except that it was something involving tomatoes but that didn't help it much.
The service here is always great, however! The servers are by and large friendly and energetic. Today I waited at the register for the cashier to come for perhaps three minutes and due to the delay my food was on the house! :]
There is a homey, cozy atmosphere and just warm happy vibes throughout the place. I love to come here. It's always a good...
