I'm shocked the rating isn't higher! I did hear, however, that when I went the menu had just recently been changed, so maybe before it wasn't as good. From my experience, this is one of the best restauraunts I've ever eaten at (and I've eaten at quite a few.) You probably already know how cute and light it is, and how amazing the view is, so I won't bother going into too much detail other than to say if you want aesthetic, go no further. I ordered the salmon with maple glaze, and subbed garlic mashed potatoes for the rice (subbing anything was very easy, and the waitress didn't make us feel like a burden at all.) The food was simply amazing. My salmon was perfect, just a slight crisp around the edges and beautiful flavor which dripped over the potatoes and made the meal exquisite. My mother got the roast chicken and garlic mashed potatoes and, afraid we would ask for a bite, waited until she had finished to proclaim that it was the best she had ever had. My father ordered the garden burger and french fries, and being of a more generous composition, made me try the fries because they were "too good to experience alone."
Here are my only criticisms: The broccoli which came with both mine and my mother's meals were, while not bad, slightly undercooked and too crunchy, despite both of us preferring our vegetables on the undercooked side. I got a slice of chocolate cake for dessert and though it was good, it could have easily served 3 to 4 people, and that's coming from a chocolate fanatic who has quite an appetite. This isn't in itself a bad thing, but it would have been much appreciated if that was specified by wither the menu or the waitress. My mother got the berry cobbler which again, was very good, but not quite as described. Cobbler described the large, fluffy crust which tops the fruit, but what came, while delicious and hot, had only a small bit of thin crust. The milk which proclaimed to come in a frosted mug was not truly frosted. It was cold, but not a bit of frost in sight.
These are all very minor things, however, and none of them will deter me from coming again soon. Overall I am very impressed with the quality ingredients and excellent preparation of said...
Read moreWe've been going here and walking through the lights for the past few years as a family tradition. Unfortunately, each year The Garden has gotten worse and this will be our last year.
We had an reservation at 3pm for 5 people. We arrive and despite there being a decent amount of large tables available that could be separated, they tell us they are clearing off a table by the door for us. It takes them 20 minutes to clean the table off because all the employees clear off a large table that no one sits at during our entire visit, and walk past the table that we were told was for us. During that time, 6 other parties both with and without reservations are seated. We contemplated leaving then, but had two friends with us and had planned on this visit with them for weeks.
We finally sit down and are given menus. We have had plenty of time to look it over during the wait so we order appetizers and drinks. The drinks take a while from the waitress but the appetizers are very fast, and delivered right along with the drinks at which point our order is taken.
That is the last thing besides delivering the check that out waitress really does. The rolls don't come out until the meal is served, my daughter's food was not rang in so she has to wait another 10 minutes while we all have our food before she gets hers. We don't get drink refills at all despite the server saying once she'll get them and never coming back and other staff delivering our food but then walking away.
I finally flagged down what appeared to be the manager to ask for refills on just water, not our other drinks, and she seemed upset at being talked to and she asks our server to get us more water which takes another 10 minutes. They were NOT busy at this time, the restaurant was less than half full.
Our check included no compensation for the wait to be seated or for my daughter not receiving her food until the rest of us were almost done eating. I'd like to say this was a one off but unfortunately it seems to get a little worse each year, this will be the last time and I can no longer recommend the restaurant as the view doesn't make up for the...
Read moreI came here with my husband for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. The waitress we had, only had one other table in her section. When we first sat down, our waitress told the other table something along the lines of “in the interest of time, here’s your check”. That table was still eating desert and left about 2 minutes later. Not very inviting.
We had about 2 minutes to review the menu and then she came over to take our orders.
We were never given bread to start, and the drinks that we ordered were 75% ice. I asked another waiter for a glass to empty the ice into since it was so full and also for some bread.
Our waitress never asked if we were celebrating anything— keep in mind that I made a reservation earlier and the reservationist had asked and was very personable.
Our waitress came about half way through our meal and asked if we were still working on our food. (We’d been there maybe 10-15 minutes). I asked for a to-go box because I felt so rushed.
After bringing me the box she stated that she’d be right back with the check. We could see her chatting with her coworkers for about 10 minutes before bringing us the check and then she started walking away before we could even tell her we had been ready to pay.
Overall, it was not a pleasant dining experience. I felt rushed and I felt that the service was lacking. She came by to refill our waters only once. She seemed annoyed that we had been sat in her section. I’ve had better service at Olive Garden. I probably won’t be back anytime soon.
(I also attempted to call and reach a manager and was transferred to a voicemail box... I called again and was told that a manager couldn’t take my call because they...
