I initially thought this was a memorial park: a small piece of land set aside to remember a significant historical figure, but which won't necessarily have any perceivable connection to that person. Those kinds of memorials exist all through Denver. This park, however, is part of the larger plot of land Brigham Young owned during his life. In fact, it was cool to find out that some of the stone walls surrounding the park are part of the original stone fencing Brigham Young errected around his property. There's even a little stone stage with side steps for small concerts or oratory events to be held! If you're looking for a historically important piece of land that also provides a quiet place to momentarily get away from the big city feel of Salt Lake City, this is a great spot. Read moreMy wife & I found this little gem while playing Pokémon Go last Saturday, & ended up spending quite a few hours there. Even though it's small, it has lots of trees & vegetation, a little lilypad pond with a waterwheel, nice grassy areas and quite a few benches in the shade. The whole time we were there literally evvvveryone was playing Pokémon Go (no joke), but with 4 pokéstops in range of each other and pokémon galore, who can judge? Times I have tried to go the gate has been locked so if that is the case just plan to visit another time. It’s at the busy intersection close to the temple and also high up close to the Capitol somewhat.
If heading up toward the Capitol it would be on your right side not far from city creek mall and then city creek park which is walkable from one location...
