My husband and I recently stayed here 7/15-7/17. On the morning of 7/16 around 0545-0600 my husband, who is an avid runner, was preparing to go on a run and he stopped in one of the lounge area to check the running app on his phone. While in the lounge an employee approached him accusing him of being homeless and loitering in the hotel. At that time my husband said "I am a guest, I'm not homeless, do I look homeless". The employee said "well if you are a guest what's your name and room number, guests don't be in the lobby this early?" Despite the employee being very rude, my husband supplied her with the information she requested, she did not got to confirm the information she just walked away mumbling under her breath. My husband was in full workout gear he is well groomed and showed no indicators of being homeless. Later that morning around 10a, I asked to speak with the manager on duty and explained to her the situation and how it made us feel, she was very rude and flippant with her response she told us, "the night auditor was just doing her job" and I asked if next time could she be more respectful, at that time she said "Yeah, I'm sorry" but was very rude and dismissive. She made no steps to try to rectify how we felt. In the current social climate, we all know that judging someone by there physical appearances can be very dangerous. My husband and I wonder if he was a 40 year old white man dressed like he was that morning would he have received the same treatment. Being a 36yo black male with dread locks is not a free pass to get harassed. I understand that homelessness is a problem in the area, but if safety is a true concern other safety measures should be put into place outside of harassing paying guests. Needless to say our family is hurt by the actions that were taking against us and highly doubt we will be utilizing a Hampton Inn/Hilton Chain hotel...
Read moreGreat location but definitely under performed in costumer service and cleanliness. This spot makes walking around the historic district super easy, which was nice. Other than that we were disappointed. Before booking with this location we confirmed that they were offering daily room cleaning services when that is the luxury of staying in a hotel rather than an Airbnb and the reason we ultimately chose a hotel. They said yes but we would just need to request daily. No problem. During our stay we are then informed that they only provide it ONCE during your entire stay- would of been nice to have received this information prior when we asked. We requested at least new towels and sheets and they said they'd bring them but we had to put everything up/on the bed. No towels or sheets delivered throughout the day but eventually were delivered once we called hours later asking where they were.
Staff were regularly seen walking the halls without masks or had masked pulled down.
Bathrooms desperately need a deep clean.
And lastly, I left a nice wool jacket in the room upon departure that magically disappeared. I understand the staff is not responsible for any items left behind but never have I had this happen in all my years of traveling. I left a nice wool jacket on the foot stool and am 100% that it was left in this spot but the staff states it is now gone and not their responsibility. The jacket was never worn throughout the trip, never left the hotel, was set beside my suitcase while packing, and once I unpacked a few hours after returning I called the hotel to let them know of this jacket and to see if I pay to have them ship it. Super annoying but I'm sure it looks nice on the staff that picked it up for their own.
Would not recommend this place as it under performed and overall, wasn't a...
Read moreI chose this Hampton Inn because of its proximity to SCAD, as my daughter and I were there for the SCAD open house weekend. It is very, very close to the SCAD museum (where we checked in) and the dorms. Also, it is very close to the Telfair Museum and the Telfair Academy. We walked everywhere as usual and had no problems at all. I chose the two-queen room with a pull-out sofa bed so we would have a little extra room, and the size was great. The room was huge compared to most hotel rooms. I was very pleased with the size and the furnishings. The main problem was the air conditioning. This is November, so the AC units should not be stressed at these temperatures. It was boiling hot when we entered our room, so I set the window unit to 70 and we left for several hours. When we returned, the room was cooler but definitely not 70. After multiple attempts over 3 days, I finally got it to cool down. I had to set the window AC on 65 to have it register 70 degrees on the room thermostat on the wall (which doesn't adjust). I read many reviews with the same complaint... the hotel AC probably needs to be replaced. If the system is struggling in November, it will really be under duress in July! In Savannah, GA, A/C is a must. Folks will not stay here if their rooms are hot. I was able to check in at 12:30 pm which I was very thankful for. I appreciated that gesture by the front desk. I did, however, get one of the last available (paid) parking spaces in their lot. I'm not sure where folks have to park after 3:00 pm, but that lot doesn't look like it would hold a fraction of the cars staying there. Just a FYI, get there early and don't move your car if you want to keep a spot! Overall, we were happy with our room but I feel like we paid quite a lot for the level of quality...
