Okay, so if you’re looking for a typical, boring history tour of Savannah, do not hop on the "Savannah for Morons: Comedy Trolley Tour." But if you want to laugh until you’re crying, then book it ASAP! Danny and Dani (yep, two guides, one hilarious duo) are, hands down, "the funniest tour guides in Savannah". They took us through the city, throwing out facts and roasting streets and landmarks with such perfect timing that I’m convinced they moonlight as stand-up comedians. Oh wait! They actually are.
Just a heads up, though: definitely leave the kiddos at home for this one. It’s history with a twist—and that twist is wrapped in sarcasm, wit, and just a sprinkle of "did they really just say that?" It was by far the best part of our trip, and I feel like we learned some things… but mainly, I learned that I should bring tissues to wipe away tears of laughter next time!
Also, huge thanks to Stephanie, who found my lost sunglasses after the tour and is kindly mailing them back to me now that I’m home. She saved me from having to buy yet another pair and squinting my way through daily life!
Seriously, if you’re in Savannah and not afraid of a little roasting mixed with your history, go on this tour. Just hold onto your sunglasses and bring your...
Read moreDani and Danny, our Moron Twins tour guides, were absolutely hysterical. Upon booking I was honestly concerned that it was going to be really cheesy, dumb comedy, and it was going to just be awkward, but I was absolutely wrong. Less than 24 hours after our tour I was recommending it to everyone I know for their next potential visit to Savannah. My cheeks were hurting from non-stop laughter well before we even hit the halfway point. Their insane memory of names and locations the guests were from made for some fantastic callbacks. The tour was scripted but they made it personal to the guests on the ride at the same time. Loved when they VERY briefly broke character during the drink stop and we got to know them as real people a little bit. Certainly some inappropriate comedy thrown in there as well, but nothing too harmful and definitely got some funny reactions from my 14 year old daughter and her friend who were on the tour with us. Pro tip: watch the reactions of people on the streets. We were dying. Stayed in Hilton Head for the first time but wanted to visit Savannah (also for the first time) for a few before our flight and after a week in HHI this 90 minute tour ended up being my favorite part...
Read moreI have been to Savannah numerous times. I have been on numerous tours. They are, for the most part, quite similar: "This is the Low house.... home to Juliette Gordon Low - founder of the Girl Scouts. Commissioned by her father in the Neo-classic style, it actually has four indoor bathrooms... an extravagance for that time..." the poorly compensated guide would drone. Along come "Savannah for Morons" to change all that. Two men with a vision (and a VERY tolerant trolly driver) believe that a tour should be something different. An "experience," if you will. It is, in my humble opinion, quite the experience! These guys will teach you J-u-u-s-s-t-t enough history to validate their laminated badges (they look LEGIT, Napoleon!), all the while changing costumes, cavorting up and down the car, leaving the trolly to run amok in an unsuspecting crowd (complete with props), and just overall entertaining the heck out of their guests!!! Photo-ops abound!. It is the closest you will find to "Monty Python Does Savannah History." (without the British...
