Let's start with a positive - the rooms are clean and, while I don't know why you'd need a kitchen when staying at an airport hotel, these rooms have such amenities.|Beyond that this place should be avoided at all costs. We stay at the airport hotels frequently and this is the worst of them all. Try the Holiday Inn across the street as none of the below problems are an issue there.|First, the shuttle starts at 5am. For an airport hotel that is unheard of. I hope you don't have an early flight otherwise you are out of luck (we certainly were). Any other place near the airport has shuttles available at all hours.|Second, they charge you to park while others are free. The advertised $16/night miraculously turned into $25+ as the hotel tacked on an incredible amount of fees. Our WA sales tax is 10% so at most you could argue $2 for tax means ~$18 charge. When I called the next week and left a VM, it went unreturned. When I called a 2nd time and spoke to a very nice lady she promised the GM would call back within 24 hours.....it's been a week and I think we all know the end result here - he's not going to call. They dupe people all the time on this and have no interest in having a conversation to fix it or earn a chance at repeat business from someone who frequents the hotels here.|Third, the customer service is embarrassingly bad. We have young kids and so for years have needed hotel cribs. We travel regularly but I've never had a hotel make me come to the front desk to pick up a crib and assemble it myself. Of course this all came at the end of a string of 3 calls over 90 minutes when I made the request and they never delivered it or followed up. Then after picking up and assembling the crib myself (now well after my kids' bedtime) I find they didn't bother to provide any sheets. When I called again they informed me if I wanted them I'd need to return to the front desk to get them myself.|This hotel is an embarrassment from shuttles to customer service to follow up to billing. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs, I promise they aren't worth...
Read moreI am a huge Marriott person being a Gold Rewards Member for life and a frequent Platinum Elite status member. This hotel has both hidden costs and unexpected disappointments. The "Lake View Balcony" that my suite advertised consists of a 24 inch ledge outside a sliding glass door with no screen. Standing on it (if you dare) literally felt like a ledge. I had hoped to sit on my balcony and look at the lake. Not possible and what a total joke.
My second surprise was the $18 parking fee to self park in a lot like every other Marriott property in the area--including the one at the Fairfield Inn (FREE) literally across the street. I stay very frequently in the Marriott properties in the Seattle Area and this parking fee is absolutely unique to this property.
Lastly, the Breakfast Buffet was a total train wreck. Inadequate food, Dirty and messy stations, no cutlery, no toasters, Inadequate space for the buffet itself. Overall the worst breakfast experience I have ever had at a Marriott property.
The hotel is NEW--only open a couple months so one could expect a few glitches. Surely the breakfast experience will improve with guest feedback and some staff training, etc. The rooms are lovely and the newness of the place is great. The three issues I have listed above unfortunately will not allow me to recommend this particular property to anyone and I will certainly never stay there again.
The following day I stayed at the Fairfield Inn in Dupont Washington which was $125 less and an awesome example of how a similarly sized hotel property can offer value, ease of use and a totally easy and wonderful morning buffet for guests. Take notice folks!
I'm a dedicated Marriott guy for life. Unfortunately, the Residence Inn Seatac isn't a place I can recommend or frequent. If you're coming to the area look at the Bellevue or Southcenter Residence Inn or other Marriott properties in the area. You will be better served...
Read moreEasily the worst business hotel stay I've ever had.
I experienced a complete lack of care and consideration from virtually every employee I encountered. Mistakes were made constantly in a highly chaotic atmosphere. Room furnishing felt cheap and ill-maintained. Management was never available and replied to my complaints afterward with a perfunctory form email.
The smallest issues required repeat phone calls and constant followup, whether it was scheduling a room cleaning to being disturbed by staff during business calls while the "do not disturb" sign was up.
Just getting the bodywash refilled took three calls over the course of more than 24 hours - first the evening I noticed, again in the morning, and finally the following night when I was back from my client visit.
Trying to get the room cleaned was a bizarre and confusing mess. I asked for housekeeping service when I checked in, but the front desk were perpetually confused when I asked about it in the following days.
The seal on the shower door broke on my third day, which shows what an awful state of disrepair the hotel is in.
I received an email with the hotel bill listing my checkout a day early and panicked thinking someone was clearing the room of my personal belongings while I was at the client site. But it turned out to be a system glitch. When I brought it up to the front desk, no apologies, just a shrug.
I asked to be contacted by management on four separate occasions over the course of five days and never heard back. A few days after my stay I got a form email that addressed none of my concerns.
They simply do not care about their customers or providing decent service to people staying here. Out of the six or seven staffers I interacted with, only one was thoughtful and polite. The others seemed completely disinterested and (pardon the pun) checked out.
Avoid at all costs; there are many superior options...
