DO NOT STAY HERE!! I was looking forward to staying here due to them having a jacuzzi in the room. First night we get here there was debris and dirt inside of the sink as well as in the tub. I cleaned out the tub because I just assumed it was dirty, but then more debris kept coming out after running the water again. It was about 1245pm at night and it was too late to do anything about it so I waited until the next morning about 845am to call the front office.
They sent maintenance over and he said he couldn’t fix the issue. Was told they would put me in a room directly next door which I was very uncomfortable with due to the fact that if the plumbing is messed up in the room next-door that it would be connected and we had to wait a hour and a half to get into the next room so we haven't bathed or brush our teeth yet.
Asked to peak to the manager and was told she was at church and wouldn't be back until 1 PM, never received a call or anything from her regarding any of our concerns on our first night and we weren’t going to wait 3 hours for her return.
Insulation is poor when you’re either going to freeze to death from the fan to try to cool the room down or you’re either going to burn to death due to the steam from the shower and the jacuzzi.
Called the next day to speak to the manager and was told that it was her day off, but he would try to get a hold of her and I told him to make sure she was aware that it was an emergency.
We ended up going to the beach and I missed her call so this morning I go to talk to her about our first night and how it was an inconvenience to transfer and how I just wasn't happy here. Her response to me was that if I wasn't happy that I was more than welcome to go somewhere else. Really? You don’t care about your guests stay and experience here?
When I told her about the dirt in the bathtub and in the sink she immediately denied it and said no it wasn't. For her to be the manager and to be argumentative with a guest and they clearly have put me in a non-functional room and for her to react this way with me was very unprofessional and I do not recommend you go anywhere near this place.
Thank goodness I checked out this morning 6/19/18 after 3 horrible bow nights here. Also alot of people on drugs stay here and a great feature is the dog they let sit on the couch in the...
Read moreMy husband and I made the long trip from Iowa to South Lake Tahoe for our honeymoon, and chose Secrets Inn for our Monday - Friday stay in early July. The location is AMAZING. It's right off the busy road, so the actual hotel location is not very busy, but it's so close to Heavenly Village and the beach that we walked everywhere we went.
We stayed in their largest room, and overall had a good time with the room. It was spacious without being overwhelming. The whole hotel is due for an upgrade though, from the outside, inside the rooms, to even the DVDs. Everything seems dated by at least 10-15 years. The room smelled a little musty (hint: old) when we got there, but we just opened a window and that helped a lot. The heart jacuzzi tub was so nice, and we used it every night. The water gets really hot, and the pressure from the shower head was perfect. However, several of the jets don't work or hardly work in the tub, and one of the covers came off as soon as we started it up.
The bed was huge and so comfy, with plenty of pillows and blankets. The sofa isn't super comfortable, but who wants to spend all their time in their hotel on the couch anyway. The TV has an additional HDMI cable, which was great for hooking up our laptops to watch Netflix. The wifi was okay most of the time, but around 10:00 pm every night, it would become unstable and start going in and out.
The hotel provides a pass to the beach for the guests, but you have to go in and ask for it. They also have DVDs you can rent, which is great in theory, except that all the DVDs are SO dated. I mean, we watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Good Will Hunting. I think the most recent movie on the shelf was at least 10 years old. Go to Wal-Mart and hit up the $5 or $10 movie bin, for Pete's sake. But seriously, it was nice to come home after a long day on the lake and relax in the room.
The location is really the selling point for this place, and they have the potential to be a true sleeper cell if they just do some updates. We enjoyed...
Read moreThe place was ok. We checked in pretty easily and the room is clean. We were greeted by two swans as shown in the picture. The room appears to have been renovated except for the AC unit from back in the old days. Sort of like buying a Tesla vehicle with a cassette player. Cassettes provide music, but hard to find cassettes of everyday hits today.
Everything was great until the evening around 8pm when it’s shower and jet tub time. A couple minutes into the shower, the hot water ran out. It didn’t change to luke warm or cooling down. It just changed from warm to cold instantly.
I tried to call the front desk but the room phone doesn’t work. I used my cell phone to call and spoke with the front desk attendant and he said the hotel was booked out and many people are using water and the hot water ran out. Give it a couple minutes and try again.
Thirty minutes later, the water was still very cold and I called the front desk again. He has asked for more time but I asked for better directions since I haven’t experience hotels being out of hot water. His manager called back 10 minutes later to explain that their boilers are working fine and just be patient and wait a couple more minutes. Basically, if we don’t want to wait, we can leave and go somewhere else. In South Lake Tahoe on a Saturday at 9:45pm, there were not many options to move to. We waited and 10 minutes later, magically the hot water worked and it was back to normal.
I tried to put the pieces of the puzzle together and realized that I should of check with the front desk before reserving if they were conserving hot water. Maybe they had turn off hot water for my room to save a buck?
Remember to check with them about hot water usage if you decide to stay here. Other than that, this is a great place to...
