Iāve been traveling for work for over a decade with some years spending as many as 26 weeks on the road. My reason in saying that, is all that time Iāve been staying nearly exclusively with Hilton. Iāve stayed in many of their more āexclusiveā properties ranging from the Waldorf in the Keys and NYC to the Del on Coronado Island in California.
In all my years of traveling this property shines and sets itself upon another strata from the rest. The ambiance. The staff. The restaurant. The amenities. The details that are NOT missed.
We stayed in room 147 which faces the Virgin River and adjacent to the smaller pool/hot tub area. It was a King suite. The room had a living area with a kitchenette including: microwave, 3/4 sized fridge/freezer, dishwasher, serving for four and cooktop but no oven, along with a dining table for four and a entertaining area with couch (sleeper sofa I believe but not sure, neglected to look), tables and television.
The bedroom was a bedroom with king bed and amply sized master bath with a 36ā soaking tub and autonomous standing shower with double sinked vanity. Thereās a French door on the room that opens up to the exterior.
The room also had a small patio near the entrance with a grill, and patio table with seating for four.
The property has laundry facilities, a nice fitness room with cardio equipment along with dumbbells going up to 75 lbs which was a nice add for someone that likes to stay fit. Thereās two different swimming areas on the property both with hot tub/pool along with luxury chaise lounges. Thereās a pavilion for larger gatherings that Iād used in a previous stay in June of 2020.
Anthera, the property's restaurant is a shiner. I wouldnāt say the food is 5 star by any means but for a hotel restaurant they do a better than average job. We had breakfast here and they did a great job on the breakfast. Having an elevated open air setting that showcases the Zion mountains was a memorable setting. We dined there once for dinner. We had the cajun fries for an appetizer which were as exceptional as loaded fries can be; my wife had the cajun pasta that was very good and I had a burger which was okay. Springdale doesnāt have a wide variety of restaurants so this option is as good as any. They have Mexican/Cajun Pasta/Burgers for dinner options. Iād rate Anther a 8/10 for dinner but a 10/10 for breakfast.
As a person that travels a lot and spends more time than I like in hotels, you begin to notice details. Are the towels stocked in the pool area? Does the water machine in the fitness area have cups? How attentive is the staff to your needs? The Cliffrose hit it out of the park in every dimension.
Lastly, the grounds and setting of the hotel undeniably add to the experience. To be in the shadows of the Watchmen of Zion (the large granite formations) with the Virgin river trickling in the rear of the property and mule deer running about.
It'd be disingenuous to not acknowledge the staff here. Everyone seems genuinely grateful to be working in a setting like this. That alone elevates this property. In a day and age where many employees can't be burdened to even do their jobs, the employees at Cliffrose were amazing. Hilton better be paying them accordingly. A special thank you to everyone here that made our stay special: Zuriel, Carlos and the countless others that really elevate the experience of this property. In the few times where we needed something they made it right and made it right in a hurry.
Hiltonās staff and whomever runs this property has done an amazing job elevating this property. It was a nice property in 2020 but my experience then versus now are completely different. I didnāt feel compelled to review my experience at that time; the property was kind of in shambles with only the ambiance of the area to elevate it. Fast forward 18 months and as is abundantly clear now, the property is my favorite property in any of the 50 states. This property makes the Waldorf in Maui seem like...
