Extremely Disappointed with Zion Canyon Campground (Site R30) I recently had a highly unpleasant experience at the Zion Canyon Campground, particularly with site R30 and the surrounding area. I feel compelled to share my disappointment and caution others against reserving this specific site. Firstly, if you plan to arrive in the evening or on a weekend, you won't be informed that just a few feet away from your campsite, there is a cement mixing facility. Imagine my surprise when I woke up to find myself essentially in the middle of a construction site! To make matters worse, the noise and dust generated by the cement mixing activities were absolutely unbearable. As early as 7 a.m., my tent was engulfed in cement dust, and the deafening noise from the construction work shattered any hope of peaceful relaxation or sleep. This situation completely ruined my camping experience and left me feeling extremely frustrated and dissatisfied. It's incredibly disappointing that the campground management failed to disclose this crucial information, preventing visitors from making an informed decision when selecting a campsite. Considering the high expectations one has when visiting a national park like Zion, this experience was a significant letdown. I strongly urge future campers to avoid reserving site R30 and the surrounding area if they value tranquility and wish to avoid being exposed to the constant noise and cement dust from the adjacent construction site. I hope that the management of Zion Canyon Campground takes this feedback seriously and addresses the issue promptly. Visitors deserve transparency and a peaceful camping environment, which unfortunately, I did not receive during my stay.

This site offers cabins and RV spots a short walk or team ride to the Zion Park visitor center. Check in went smoothly and we were immediately given keys to our two cabins. There are apparently 2 types of cabins at the site. One has a bathroom and comes with linens, towels and toiletries. There is a separate bedroom with a queen bed and the other section is includes a bunk beds, a sofa that you could open up to sleep on, a dining shelf for 4 and a kitchenette that has a sink, small refrigerator and microwave. You could sleep 4 or 5 people in here but the bunk beds may be a squeeze for tall individuals over 5'10". That's an arbitrary height btw. Lol. The other is just a cabin with no bathroom and enough space to fit a family with kids. There are two areas that are separated and the back includes 4 numbers and the front area has a queen bed in it. The are no bathrooms in the cabin but there are communal bathrooms and showers nearby. There is a well stocked general store with basic groceries and other things you may need during your stay. There is a pool there to cool down during a hot day that can get crowded at times. Basically I would stay here again for a "budget" site near the park. It's walkable distance to most of the dining and shops in the area and the tram stop to farther areas is right in front.

By far the most expensive campground during our journey from Las Vegas via the Grand Canyon, Page, Bryce, etc., to Zion. Compared to all the other parks, it’s *much* more touristy, and they take full advantage of that. Paying around 200 dollars for one night on a campsite is already outrageous, but then the quality is also far below par. The men's toilets and showers were old and filthy. Three out of the four toilets were completely clogged, and the partitions in the toilets and showers are so low that you can see over them. Per person, you get one shower token for a whopping 6 minutes of shower time, but honestly, you wouldn’t want to stay in that shower room any longer. The pool is too small for the number of guests at the campground. What is really nice, though, is that you can swim in the stream behind the campground. It’s a bit tricky with the rocks, but you can have a good time there, and it’s cooler than the pool water. For one night, it’s all in all okay, but the prices they charge here are just absurd.

Alright, to be fair, a lot of this campground's problems were out of their control, but that doesn't excuse the way they handled those problems and the overall worse-than-average experience, hence the 2 stars. In the weeks before my family arrived, a flash flood pretty much destroyed the entire front office area, hotel, and laundry. The problem is, we weren't warned of any of this beforehand, and we were planning to do our laundry at the campground. So we had to drive our whole RV to the laundromat down the road which was pretty inconvenient. Then, the day that we arrived, ANOTHER flash flood came through, which made the pool unusable for the time we stayed there. Again, there's nothing that could've stopped that, but maybe the campground could've done something to compensate for that since the price reflected the availability of many amenities that were unavailable. Maybe the campground could've given us extra shower tokens. Each person gets only 1 shower token per day for a 6 minute shower. And that's fine for some people, but I like to be comfortable, so a 6-minute shower won't cut it, especially after a muddy monsoon. I was only able to shower comfortably after a nice Irish girl gave my family extra tokens, so it would've been nice for the campground to do something similar. The day after the monsoon, campground staff went around with hoses spraying the mud off of everything, and, as if the campground wanted to lower their rating even more, most of that water and mud ended up at our low site. The sprayers tried to just laugh it off, but fortunately the campground did let us move to a new site. But that was after we were all set up, so honestly just staying at our site with the mud might've been less of a hassle than moving ended up being. Dave at the front office ended up helping us out a lot. We were even able to park in the hotel parking lot the following day thanks to him. Unfortunately nobody else seemed to care about us as much. I'm sure this place is very nice most of the time and I think that most of the problems were only temporary, but that doesn't change the fact that my family's experience was bad. The campground did leave us a couple bunches of firewood to try to make up for everything, but honestly, after all that, a few pieces of wood just...

We were here last year and while it pales in comparison to the campgrounds within Zion, the proximity to the park and the utility of the hookups, made it a nice alternative. It was pricey, but there were a few other options.

This year, the prices went up by 50%. Unable to get a site in the Watchman Campground, I had little choice but to book a site here. What I found, was a huge disappointment. For my $101 per night, what I got was a patch of sloped dirt where I could not level my RV no matter how many blocks I tried to put underneath the tires. Gone was the somewhat level gravel and now dust and dirt swirled through the campground for much of the time we were there.

The laundry facilities were gone. Actually, the entire hotel that was on the property in front of the campground and part of it, has been torn down and lies in a large pile of debris next to the pool. Oh yes, the pool is closed because debris from the pile blows into it and because there is no fence between the large debris pile and the pool.

The cute cabins that backed into the adjacent lot have been removed and replaced with more dirt campsites. The view that they had screened before, is a concrete plant which apparently is owned by the same owner as this campground. Without those cabins blocking that view, now one has the view of the concrete plant on one side and the large debris pile on the other.

The showers were adequate but nothing special. Their timed to 6 minutes per token which are given out one per person per night. If you want an extra token, it will cost you an extra $6.

One last note, they offer free wifi. Don't believe it. Nobody in the campground was able to use it and even the women in the "office" shipping containers the use as workplaces, don't believe that it works well enough to actually use

So let's summarize. Debris pile on one side, cement plant on the other, unlevel sites on lots of swirling sand and dust. No laundry, no pool, no wifi. For all of this, they increased the fees by 50%.

I won't...

I really could not say enough good things about this campground! I will start with the actual campground, and then move onto the staff who went above and beyond for us.

The sites are large (we stayed at a tent site), and they provide lots of amenities. We were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and size of the washrooms and showers (which are individual enclosed stalls). They even have an outside sink to wash dishes in, which is a huge plus when camping in a tent! The location of the campground is walking distance (~10 mins) to the park, but also right next to the shuttle bus stop that is only 2 stops away from the entrance. We didn’t get around to using the pool because of the river next to the campground. The sandy bank is just lovely to hangout on! The water is a little chilly, but very refreshing on a hot day. We saw lots of kids having a blast floating down sections of it in tubes.

On the last night of our stay, I forgot my wedding rings in the shower… Luckily a good Samaritan had found them (but not turned them in yet). The campground was crucial in their return to us! We were frantic to get back to Vegas to catch our flight home, so the manager (Brook) helped us organize a plan with the Post Office to have them dropped off and returned to us by mail. The rings were eventually passed off to the staff members of the front desk, and were guarded by Brook until the Post Office reopened after the weekend, at which point she brought them to be mailed to us in Canada. We are so touched by the generosity, and overall kindness the staff (and everyone we met in Springdale) showed us. We would have recommended Zion Canyon Campground before the whole ring ordeal... but now we are even more amazed at how great of a...
