Very sad about how this all turned out....
So I will start by saying that I have never traveled out west before. The girlfriend and I, well really SHE planned a very nice trip highlighting all the points of the Grand Canyon. It included a lot of camping and enjoying what mother nature had to offer....our splurge for the trip? Staying here! So in March, just to make sure, I called and made reservations for this hotel. I was so excited because we were told that we got the last room for our selected days. A month later, the GF requested for me to send her all the confirmation emails that I have. I fired up the Gmail account and realize the only one that was missing is from the Desert Pearl Inn. I thought well let me check the credit card and make sure i'm not missing it, but forgot I was told on the phone that they don't charge until arrival. So I freakkkkedddd out and called . I spoke with an extremely nice gentleman who tried to find our reservations but had no luck. My information was forwarded to the manger and I got a call about 24 hours later. She also told me that she couldn't find the reservation. I explained in detail the conversation and she realized that I was not bluffing about the phone call. The scariest part? I already provided my credit card information to an employee who failed to make an actual reservation. So what was the end result? The manger said she would check for cancellations (daily) and i'd be the first person she called to book a room (since it was now full). Did I ever get a phone call? Nope, I sure didn't.... So today (I am here in Zion), I called to just check and see if a room was available and to my surprise they had one....I checked my phone and went to the missed calls section.... never got that phone call..... My point in all this.... plan safely, make sure to get the confirmation emails to make sure you enjoy your trip. I can't imagine what it would of been like just to show up and think it was all done. The reason I gave two stars instead of one? Because I give them one more star because I should of known better and checked this sooner....
P.S. the Cliffrose is...
Read moreMy husband and I celebrated our anniversary in Zion and are SO happy we decided to stay at Desert Pearl Inn! We were in room 412, an upper corner King Riverside room with a balcony and vaulted ceilings throughout. Check in and parking were a breeze. The views of the river, red rocks and trees swaying in the breeze were absolutely beautiful from the comfy Adirondack chairs on our river-facing deck. We frequently saw deer grazing in the property lawn leading to the river (mornings and evenings). The temps were cool during our stay so we kept our door open most of the time for fresh air and the sound of the river to flow through our room. The A/C (a mini split unit) worked well when we did use it. The room is extremely spacious with King mattress (firm, just how I like it!), large desk space, comfy 3-seater couch, a TV (which we didn't turn on) updated kitchenette & dining area, plenty of space for luggage and a large, sparkling clean bathroom with bath/shower combo, single sink, toilet & bidet. My only very minor complaint would be that the coffee maker is incredibly slow to brew (took 15+mins to brew 2 small cups), but there are plenty of tasty coffee stops nearby to supplement! The property has a large pool area with plenty of seating, loungers and dining area. There was also a large hot tub, which we used daily! The water was always the perfect level of hot and the jets provided great therapy of sore muscles after hiking. You also get spectacular red rock views approaching sunset while in the hot tub! While walking to the Park entrance is 100% possible from the property, we would recommend going next door to Utah e-bikes and renting bikes for a day (or more) of exploration! A discount is provided to guests of the Desert Pearl and getting to various hikes within the park with an e-bike makes it so much more fun (and efficient)!! There are plenty of restaurants & shops within easy walking distance as well. We enjoyed our stay so much and are looking forward to a...
Read moreAwesome location, close to Zion National Park entrance. Beautiful view along the river. Rooms are nice, amenities are nice, but for the price, we didn't think it was worth it. We paid over $500/night for the larger room with the separate bedroom and a cooktop so we could prepare some of our meals. We booked two other rooms for our group and we all gathered in our (larger) room, which was nice. But the total was $6000 for three rooms for 4 nights. That's a big chunk of change for our group.
I would have expected the front desk staff to know more answers to questions about the park.
Service prior to arrival was great. They allowed me to change credit cards, for a different payment. Email communication was responsive. Service after departure left something to be desired. We called them about some items left behind. They offered to ship for what the post office charged plus $10. I was taken aback. After spending $6000 for our rooms, I would think they would have shipped our things for free, as part of good customer service. They didn't even offer to waive their own $10 (handling?) charge. When I let them know that I've never heard of a hotel policy like this, nor had my friends, they insisted that they are a small business, they couldn't afford to do this for all their customers, and claimed even luxury hotel chains have this policy. Well, I stayed in a luxury hotel in July of this year. My mom left her binoculars behind, and they happily shipped them back to her, no questions asked, no hassles.
Desert Pearl Inn's management dug their heels in and refused to make an exception or even a compromise. So, when we return to Zion for a family reunion, with a larger group, they will not get our business. Too bad for them. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. They could have spent $100 or less to make us happy (returning) customers that would spend well over $6000 with them next...
