You know those moments when you are craving seafood and you see a new seafood joint open? You don’t expect nothing more than deliciousness, mouthwatering, savory food. That’s not what we got. First was the long wait, it being a new business we understood that. Then we got our food and decided to sit in the parking lot and eat. I’m so glad we did. The ice teas were the best part of the meal, unfortunately. If you are looking for a meal with great taste this is not the place to go. Unless you bring your own seasoning. The scallops were raw. Chef Ramsay would’ve been disappointed when the scallops were piping hot and raw, and the fried shrimp was cold and rubbery. The french fries stated on the menu that they were Cajun fries. Except there was no Cajun seasoning. It was your standard french fries. The calamari had no taste either. So, I took the meal back to the restaurant and I asked to speak to the person in charge of food being returned and everybody turned their heads to look for somebody because they weren’t sure. A young lady came to my aid and I shared with her to please let the kitchen know that it is unhealthy to serve raw scallops. I went on to tell her about the rest of the food. I told her about the lack of seasoning on the calamari and she said that the calamari did not come with seasoning. I suggested it should be stated in the menu that the calamari would be bland. She seem bothered that I brought the food back and that I was concerned about the condition of the food. Snobbishly she asked me if I wanted to take the scallops back to the kitchen and cook them longer and I said no I want my money back and that seem to bother her even more. So she gave me $13. The meal was $12.99. Now either she didn’t know that tax was to be included or she didn’t know how to calculate returning the tax on $12.99. At that point I wasn’t even going to bother pushing the...
Read moreI was in food service management/ownership for over 20 years. Walk in Saturday evening, place wasn't busy but it was only 5:30, wasn't too concerned at all. Asked if we could sit at the bar because there was a game I wanted to watch. I could tell immediately, bartender was extremely inexperienced and annoyed. She did not want any customers. She couldn't figure out how to put the game on we wanted to watch but miraculously she could change the TV in the dining room we wanted to watch. Waitress was not bad at all. I ordered a draft beer which came out in a 10 oz mug with about 2 1/2 inches of foam. My date had a Pina Colada (which was basically just Pineapple juice, no coconut. Never seen a yellow Pina Colado before). We had a Snow Crab, shrimp and crayfish boil. Crab was great which is why my daughter has raved about this place before. Crawfish was the worst I've ever had. Shrimp was decent. Paid for extra potatoes and Corn because I love those, how do you mess up potatoes and corn? They know how. Before leaving I couldn't help but notice my server sitting at a table next to us on her phone with her back to the register, and the manager/owner n his phone facing the door and register, while an elderly couple waiting for an extended amount of time to be seated. Both server and manager still sitting on their phones. Then another lady walked up to pay her bill, both still sitting there clueless on their phones. I wish I would've sat and clocked how long that couple had to wait to be seated and how long that lady waited to pay. When we walked out, they were all still waiting. I don't frequent that area often but I will not be back. I went there because my daughter and family friends had recommended the place. I have been to Boorays multiple times but it has been at least 5 years since my last visit. I should've just went with the...
Read moreFirst I would like to start my review with this; this is my opinion based on two separate orders at the first opening of this restaurant. In the past week I have tried this places seafood boils twice, with the same sauces and seasonings both times . Wow.. extremely bland. Not just a little bland, I mean tasteless bland. The seasoning had very little flavor or salt. Everything was covered in a spicy oil (fire) that was not only lacking heat, but tasted like raw oil. Now the spice is subjective. I'm a Hispanic male with a heart for the hot stuff. So maybe it's hot to some of you guys but for me, if that says fire, I expect some sweat. The shrimp was horribly overcooked. So much so, that it was un-peelable. The shell was stuck to the skin. The crawfish were a very nice size. That was definitely a bonus. It was nice to see some big crawdads this late in the season. But again, none of the seasoning penetrated anything and even licking the shells didn't get me enough sodium to even make it palatable. Which is a real shame. I had very high hopes for a place called "Cravin Crab". I'm a huge seafood lover and the prices here are much higher than most other seafood boil places in Weatherford, however for the price, it is not at all worth it. Now this is an initial review upon their first month or so being open, but first impressions are everything. And unfortunately there is another restaurant not far (Boiling Cajun) that has lower prices , better boils, and crazy flavor. So until Cravin Crab steps their flavor game up, looks like I won't be Cravin anything they are serving up...
